Manziel Gets Away With It
http://espn.go.com/college-football/stor...-rice-owls

Sits out a half vs Rice and that is it. NCAA closes it. Guess if you are in the SEC you can get away with anything. Yeah the video showing him saying "I was never here" in the hotel room was not evidence or anything. I am sure he signed all of that stuff for free from memorabilia brokers. Right....

Shows what a farce the NCAA is and how biased ESPN is in their reporting. OSU loses a whole season and gets a bowl ban for selling items from their games won. Manziel can sell autographs like it's nobodies business and gets away with it. Can you imagine if OSU skated like this? ESPN would have a field day instead of letting it go.

I was glad to see Robert Smith and Paul Finebaum calling it ridiculous but the coverage overall did not have the venom and digging that ESPN did with OSU.

I guess the mentality should be deny and don't come forward. Because you get away with it doing the former and get hammered by the NCAA by coming forward.

I think it shows how much pressure A&M and the SEC put on the NCAA. They couldn't mess up that Alabama Texas A&M game. A half of a game? While Miami stands on the sidelines still waiting for a verdict. If anyone should be upset it should be Miami.

Unless Manziel admitted to taking money there's really nothing the NCAA can do. They can't produce a paper trail of unaccounted money earned or spent. Without someone else stepping forward with some info, they are SOL. Really I'm surprised they even suspended him for 1/2 a game. After his offseason of hype he should get that just for general assholedness.

It was A&M that did the suspension not the NCAA.

The rule is broader than accepting money. NCAA bylaw 12.5.2.1 says student-athletes "cannot permit their names or likenesses to be used for commercial purposes, including to advertise, recommend or promote sales of commercial products, or accept payment for the use of their names or likenesses." If they know somebody else is making money from their presence or participation at an event, it is a violation. Of course, WHAT INCREDIBLE HYPOCRISY, since playing a major sporting event for their university is arguably a violation of this rule!

Smart and savvy? Seriously, he's the type of athlete that will have a tragic ending to his story. He's the polar opposite of smart. Kid is a dope.

Something any Division 4 must do, along with whatever they're trying to do with the financial aspect of the game and ability to create new rules, is to not have such a b*tch a** infractions and sanctioning body that seemingly can't even figure out how to turn on a light switch.

After all this he goes out and acts like an idiot in the one half he plays today. He'll be in the doghouse for something else before long.

No doubt. Johnny is a jack-$#!. He's immature, which is a disappointment. Good thing he didn't go to the NFL, he would have been knocked out the first snap LOL

Was thinking the same thing...I don't like this kid and he looks more and more like a dbag as time goes on. I hope he gets his bell rung sooner than later.

And that cheap shot late in the game by the Texas A&M defender on the Rice receiver was inexcusable. Overall I hope that team fails this year.
