For those unfamiliar with the gameday scene at SMU - which, despite our small crowds, is still among the best in the country - here's a nice shore video montage created by our athletic department

Parking isn't easy to find and there's not lots of space, but I did enjoy tailgating under the oak trees at SMU. The SMU fans were nicer then I expected.
Nice video.

I park for free in a neighborhood on the east side of campus. It's an easy quarter-mile walk to the stadium.
The area around SMU is nice. The neighbors don't mind SMU fans parking in front of their house, as long no trash is left on their lawn and their landscaping isn't stepped on.

Just to note - the areas south and west of campus have resident parking only on game days - so be sure to be in the neighborhood on the east side, or easier - park for free at Mockingbird Station and take the shuttle across 75.
Side Show Joe - Most of us are nice people. Every fan base has their knuckleheads, of course, but we try to be very welcoming for visiting fans.
Actually you can still park in the neighborhood south of Ford. They only have signs up on one side of the street so it seems like one side of the street is reserved for residents and the other is fair game. I parked there for the game vs. Tech no problem. The police heavily patrolled the area when I was parking so make sure you park in the right area.

The north-south streets have parking allowed on one side of the street, while the east-west streets are reserved on both sides of the street
