Interms of pure architectural beauty, combining form and function with tradition and modern in wonderful symmetry, it's hard to beat Arrowhead for an outdoor stadium.

A few pictures and info on Rice Stadium. Was looking for a picture from the westside upper deck where you can catch a glimpse of downtown, but couldn't find it. The Conference USA 1996 game picture (looks like vs. SMU) is from the eastside. Just above it is a picture from the westside, but facing southeast looking at the nearby Texas Medical Center.

I like FedEx field. They didn't waste any space and have lots of luxury boxes, premium and club level seating.

Having never been to that stadium in person it's incredible how it looks much larger than 50k.

This type of image makes it seem like it would seat atleast 60k:

To me, this is a classic, clean looking stadium. I like it.

The NFL stadiums today are mostly off of the charts loaded.

Michigan in the 115 thousand seat category.
NDSU in the 20 thousand seat category.
The Kibbie Dome in the under 20 thousand seat category.

Yeah it looks great. The upper decks are not large but in many stadiums they are, like an illusion. They have chairbacks where you need them an bleacher seats for the rest.

Could say the exact same thing about the adjacent Kaufmann Stadium. In an era full of bland cookie cutters, Kansas City was farsighted enough to create two of the best stadiums in their respective leagues.

I think that was the prototype football stadium of the South circa 1960's. Was that the same design Tampa used when the Creamsicle Buccaneers first stunk up the field? The "sombrero".

And yes, TCF is a great venue. Location is good and now it's next to the rail line that goes between downtown Minneapolis and downtown St. Paul.

My favorite is Colorado State's new on-campus stadium, officially-unofficially scheduled for operation Fall 2016. Seats 43K with expansion capabilities built into the original construction. Should be eco-friendly, green, LEED, etc. Many amenities, and best of all: a brewery in the structure.

Hadn't seen the aerial view of Arrowhead -- that is a great-looking stadium.

Arrowhead always makes me think think of John Elway's first game there, when he lined up under the guard at one point. What a loud, raucous place.

I like both of those stadiums because they have that '60's futuristic look. Its what I imagine John Lautner (who built Bob Hope's house) would design if he built ballparks. By virtue of the sheer proliferation, the exteriors of these 'modern retro classic' ballparks have the same lack the distinctiveness as the 'cookie cutter' stadiums of the previous generation.

I like Seattle's Centurylink Field simply because it was specifically designed to be loud

And I think Alabama has the best college stadium

IMO Lambeau Field is the premier NFL stadium. It's an antique, but absolutely beautiful on game day, especially now that it's been updated to modern standards... 04-rock

RE: Favorite stadium designs?
I really like it when a stadium doesn't look hideous from the street. While we all see things from a blimp's point of view, we sometimes never consider how this stadium is perceived from eye level.

DKR Memorial (University of Texas - Austin) does a great job of not looking like a fugly mess from the street.

As for their new facade on the upper deck extension? To be honest with you all I don't know if I'm sold on it yet. It appears to clash with what the rest of the building is trying to do in terms materials and scale. I would need to really be up close to it in order for further review.

All of those stadiums (and many large stadiums) have one thing in common:

The first row of seats is a long way from the outer boundary of the buffer zone.

They are beautiful. But personally, I give them demerits for being too far from the field.
