RE: TV market rankings
So the ACC at least shares four of the top 10: New York, Boston, Washington DC, and Atlanta.

If Temple would have ever gotten their stuff together they would be such a huge get being the only FBS school actually located within the 4th largest media market and having a large alumni base because it is a large public school (Penn State does take up a huge market share even though it's not technically in the Philly area but you would think Temple would eat into some of that share if they ever fielded a good team).

What is the point of this thread?

What are the tv RATINGS of those markets? That's vastly more important.

No one in Philly cares about college sports outside of the Big Five hoops. Temple seems to be sliding backwards, which is a shame, so that is not likely to change.

I still think the ACC should get an early season Big Five challenge going in Philly. Pitt, Syracuse, whoever else wants to participate verses the Big Five+Drexel at the Palestra and/or Wells Fargo. That, could actually be a big deal there. Heck, you might be able to set it up as an early season tournament type of deal.

Actually, it is the combination of ratings and market size which are important.

On a national scale, a 30.0 tv rating in Charlottesville isn't preferable to a 0.5 in NYC.
