RE: Initial BCS Rankings
You're leaving out #14 VT who is 8th in the computer rankings. If the Harris and Coaches polls have VT at 14 by the time of the VT/Miami game, VT could be in the top 10th too.
The computers like things like quality of losses and teams you beat with a winning record. The only team VT has played in the FBS with a losing record is UNC.

RE: Initial BCS Rankings
Oregon will probably jump FSU if they both go undefeated. That is unless FSU jumps them in the polls. Crappy ACC games vs Syracuse/Wake along with the chump game FSU has scheduled against Idaho bring their SOS down.
Plus Florida could have 4-5 losses by the last game.

Enough voters might switch if FSU continues to be impressive, particularly in their games against Miami, Florida, and VT/Miami. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the formula is calculated using the number of points in the polls so even if FSU just closes the gap on Oregon in the poll it should help them out.

RE: Initial BCS Rankings
Who knows how computers or polls work. That is why the system is dumb and thank God for a playoff of 4 that will probably be 8 soon.
They say every game counts. Well if every game counts, you shouldn't have to worry about other teams losing. You should just have to worry about your team running the table.

RE: Initial BCS Rankings
If Florida State, Alabama, and Oregon all go undefeated I don't think FSU makes it to the BCSCG.
The Ducks will jump us in the BCS poll with their remaining SOS.
After the Miami game we will have Wake Forest, Syracuse, Idaho, and Florida but we have to take care of NC State this weekend first.
Oregon still has 3 of the 5 teams remaining ranked on their schedule #12 UCLA #25 OSU #6 Stanford
We need Ala or Oregon to lose 1 game but FSU can't lose or the BCS title hopes go up in flames. Just so much more football left to be played, stay tuned, its going to get interesting
