We have a lot of bowls in FL already.

I'd add that it isn't easy to drive to Tally either. No interstates go n/s to there. I also don't like having a bowl at a conference member's stadium.

So are you going to boycott the Orange Bowl?

No, I've been to two myself. I'm saying we don't need an additional bowl in FL. We have the Orange, Russel, and partial with the Gator now. That's plenty.

Any link to articles concerning this, because this is the first I have heard about that.

Quote:...and the bowl deserves a good weekend slot. The first two years had bad TV slots.
The same could be said of any number of bowls. The current Russell Athletic was about to fold in part because of it's pre-Christmas date. What makes the Pinstripe so special, other than the fact it's in one of the mot expensive cities in the country during one of the most expensive times of year, wil be played in undesirable weather, and as typical with football games played in baseball stadiums there is limited seating and the sightlines are garbage.

Quote:This bowl is about branding...the Yankees are America's premiere sports franchise and the ACC (along with the B1G) will benefit from this bowl game.
Yeah, OK. It worked wonders for the Big East didn't it? The Big XII thought so much of this branding that they gladly dumped it.

It's a decent bowl for third tier teams like Syracuse who aren't going to travel much anywhere else anyway, but it isn't by any means a huge win simply because it's affiliated with the NY Yankees.

Sigh...figures haven't been released but the Pinstripe has elevated in status (3rd-5th pick). The Yankees have plenty of $$$
I'll bet a Avatar Signature bet it goes up when the figures are release. Put up or shut up Cat.

The rest of your arguments are cultural based...you either are/are not afraid of NYC. I'm not and love visiting there.

The Big12 didn't belong in the Pinstripe...the natural fit is the B1G or ACC...your arguments are silly and always got to get in a cheap shot somewhere.

Define a "bump up" first.

Going from $1,800,00 to $2 million isn't that big of a deal. It has to at minimum surpass what the Russell Athletic payout is this year ($2,275,000) since it will be eligible for the third pick every year.

It's still a cold weather bowl in a baseball stadium in an expensive city that offers little recruiting exposure regardless of the payout. To hear you Syracuse fans talk one would think it were on the level of the Chick-fil-a bowl or something.

NYC in the winter is an acquired taste for most folks from Va, NC, SC, Ga, and Florida. Personally - I like it, but I understand why some don't and I know thousands that are still traumatized from Peach Bowls played outside of the Georgia Dome - games where it rained, snowed, iced, sleeted, the sun would shine, snow again, rain again, then the wind would blow, and snow some more, then a fog would rise. FSU, NC State, UNC, Clemson - all four of us who are over the age of 40 remember Peach Bowls like that.

Yep! Snowed on in 1970 in Bobby Dodd and one of the coldest games I've ever been to in '76 in the old baseball stadium.

I love New York at Christmas, but CD has some very valid points.

It isn't like the Southern Schools are going to get selected much...it will be Cuse, Pitt, BC, Notre Dame, Louisville and maybe Miami going most of the time.

For Cat...here is the bet. The Pinstripe Bowl will meet or beat $2.275M. If it doesn't I will display the avatar of your choice for one month. If they do meet or beat $2.275M you will display for a month whatever avatar I choose. John is welcomed to join in.

If I'm going to go to a Tier 3 Bowl...I'd rather go to Florida than Shreveport. Also, remember we have 15 teams now versus 12.

15 teams? I thought we only had 8.03-weeping

So you want to play in the new Boca Bowl or what? There are no more decent FL bowl options and most people get tired of going to FL bowls every year.

I don't give a crap...if you are at 6 wins...anywhere is better than sitting at home. I'd even take the St. Pete bowl for the last ACC team.
