RE: How's Recruiting?
With the imminent (Or apparently so, nothing finalized yet) hiring of Charlie Partrdige it has already begun to turn a few heads in S. Fl recruiting.

http://www.fauowlsnest.com/forum/topicvi...ecruit.htm

"I had the opportunity to speak with one local 3-star LB who is committed to a MAC school, and he was intrigued that FAU had made a move to hire Charlie Partridge. This prospect had known Partridge from his recruiting days at Arkansas, and mentioned that the relationship could warrant a visit come January. The linebacker had an FAU offer from the previous staff, but wasn't considering the Owls."

Also the below from Coaching Search.

FAU: A source tells me Charlie Partridge plans to hire several coaches with vast recruiting experience in the state of Florida. Don't be surprised if Partridge targets former Texas and Mississippi State defensive coordinator Manny Diaz for his defensive coordinator position

I know that signing day is down the road a ways, but WKU is doing really well in its verbal commits so far. We had 5 commit today and according to Scout we pulled ahead of RICE to lead the conference in recruiting up to this point.

WKU is ranked 73
Rice 78

Scout is not very reliable. Example they list ODU with only 17 recruits we have 21 (Justin Gilchrist, Torrez Wentz, Ryan Londree, Felix Manus-Schell, Charlie Shuman all gave a verbal commit well over a month ago none are on the Scout list. .

Every CUSA school is incorrect with the numbers Scout is showing (when compared to 247sport).
More ..... http://247sports.com/Season/2014-Footbal...ence=C-USA

It looks like Western got 6 verbal today (12/15/13) 5 JR. College and another Jr. College last week for 6. Congrats on the recruiting job. Hope we can follow up the next few months with a rush to the finish. 03-old

ODU leaped Rice in the recruiting class rankings today with the commitment of former UCONN commit Justin Noye. He'll be playing safety and returning kicks for us. Other commits from Sunday:

Darius Garcia OT

Martez Simpson OLB

Reece Schmidt MLB

Looks like WKU is now rated #1 in all 3 services.

24/7

Scout

Rivals

Hopefully we can stay on top. We have 5 or 6 players that have not been evaluated yet by these services.

Wow, looking at Scout's list of WKU commits, that's a great class with lots of immediate help with 9 JC's out of the 24 and a total right now of 6 three star athletes. Very good job.

I counted 10 JC's. I'd be careful with that. That's how our last coach loaded up for 1 great year and then left us with nothing.

RE: How's Recruiting?
North Texas has a Rivals 4 star HS All American linebacker recruit who has transferred from Oregon U. He will be on this Winter's recruiting signee list for UNT.

Anthony Wallace of Dallas Skyline HS is already enrolled and will pad up for Spring Football in a few months.

Rivals has him at 6'2", 220 pounds and runs a 4.5 forty. The skinny on him is that he can add more weight and be fine.

These recruiting service listings don't always show the real picture of a school's total recruiting class. For instance, none of them factored in our 8 NCAA FBS level transfers last year some of whom played important roles on our HOD Bowl bound team this New Years Day in the historic Cotton Bowl stadium.

I think those recruiting service lists are fun to follow, but I just don't get excited about their school rankings most the time because (once again) they just don't tell the full story of a school's entire recruiting haul.

RE: How's Recruiting?
I would trust our own rosters over rivals measurables from a couple years ago that was reported by a coach. Players who go through SPARQ testing(which you'll see on HUDL from time to time) will have accurate height/weight/40 times but not that many players are invited to those camps so a lot of players have embellished height and weights coming out of high school.

Still, we're doing better than we have in a long time. The only bad part is we have 18 of 19 or 20 spots already filled and I wonder if the coaches are kicking themselves for taking commits from a couple players who didn't have any other offers early in the season. Oh well, on the bright side we can really focus in on signing 2 more impact players and working on the 2015 class.

As someone previously mentioned: "These recruiting services are fun to follow"

We had 19 3 star recruits and the services were all over the place.
http://miamiherald.typepad.com/fiusports...-1005.html

Even the the last link with WKU leading with 6 three stars: They only have us as having 10 commits. - FUG DISH

http://www.fiugoldenpanthers.com/phpBB3/...75&start=0

Also, Javonte Seabury was a four star - as soon as he flipped to FIU (Florida State - commit) - of course - they downgraded his rating

Again FUG DISH

That my friend is how recruiting services screw recruits if they try to go to non P5 schools. 247sports has been pretty reliable on the listings but that's not to say they haven't jumped gun on some recruits once in a while and corrected it after they bit their tongue.

24/7 seems to be the most "complete" of the ranking services IMHO.

FAU recruiting will hopefully be ramped up fully after the dead period is over. Coach Partridge is putting together the staff quickly, (Dan Shula from E Illinois, and Jova Dewiit has been reatained according to a few places)

In another thread I noted that at least 5 high school Coachs and the AD from St. Thomas Aquinas (S. Fla HS Powerhouse) where in attendance at the presser yesterday. This hire has created a huge buzz in S. Fla HS circles. GREAT NEWS!
