New C-USA basketball thread
There's not too many more chances to improve our RPI but today is a great day and chance to pick up some ground as 13 teams are in action but only 12 are against D-1. RPI is from warrennolan.com and games are from espn.com:

19 Patriot .4785
20 MAAC .4774
21 CUSA .4742
22 WAC .4688

Tulsa (164) at TCU (167)
ECU (162) at NC State (97)
MT (100) at Cincinnati (68)
ODU (293) at UNC Wilmington (117)
Tulane (301) host Alabama St (218)
UNT (210) host Wayland (non D-1)
Rice (237) vs Houston (256) -- game at neutral site in Houston
UAB (118) at LSU (20)
FIU (272) host Louisville (46)
Charlotte (140) host USC Upstate (166)
Marshall (222) host Arkansas St (139)
USM (36) vs Arkansas Little Rock (212) -- game in British Virgin Islands
UTEP (201) at Washington St (102)

Teams not playing today:
La Tech (122)
FAU (295)
UTSA (351)

RE: 12-21-12..big day for C-USA basketball
One thing I noticed as I put in the numbers is that C-USA teams have the worser (if that's a word) RPI in 8 of the 12 games (North Texas doesn't count). Also, in 7 of those 8 our opponent's RPI is 60 spots or more better so definitely a BIG day if a majority of the CUSA teams can get a win today and considering 6 games are on the road, 2 are neutral site games, and 5 are home games. Good luck to all CUSA teams today!

**disclaimer--I did this in a hurry so I very well could've made a mistake or 3**

To show you how worthless RPI is, Louisville, who beat us by 31 in another infamous whore game, is 14 spots behind us....

I think the biggest thing that helps CUSA's RPI today is that UTSA is not playing.

You really should study up on how the RPI works. Or better yet, study up on how sports work.

On the ladies' side of things MT is hosting South Dakota State (a team that handled #12 PSU). They are always a good team and we will need a large, loud crowd today... Worried about the men though. Cincy is a tough team. Go Blue and Go CUSA!

You must be one of those "back in the day" guys then that don't like all those fancy puters taking over everything.

Tulsa and ECU get CUSA off to an 0-2 start 03-hissyfit
Plenty of games to go though so the day still has promise.
On a side note, ECU saw its RPI improve from 162 to 151 even with the loss. Granted it will change throughout the day but at least it didn't get worse as of now

MT and Cincinnati tied @ 21 at the half. Ugly game so far.

If Charlotte doesn't show up ready tonight, we could get upset by USC-Upstate. They have already knocked off S. Carolina and Virginia Tech. Also, they blew a double-digit lead to Tennessee and ended up losing a close one. 04-jawdrop

ODU likely to win at UNCW, up 9 with 3 to go and they haven't made a FT all game.

ODU 69 UNCW 57. Pretty decent road RPI win, UNCW was at 112 I believe.

I don't expect ODU to challenge in CUSA but they tried a new tactic today, avoid contact on offense and it actually worked. Previously they were out looking for fouls and it was ugly basketball.

We owned UNCW when they were winning championships, so this was a good game to get on track.

MT beats South Dakota State 59-44 at home. They are now 9-3 on the year, and I'd say that was one of the best defensive performances I've seen in a very, very long time. Ladies should be getting even more votes next week.

On a sadder note the men were crushed by Cincinnati.

RPI is not worthless. It just doesn't take into account margin of victory. We (SOS 112) have played a tougher schedule than Louisville (SOS 154) so far.

When Kent played them after we won we said that team was dangerous. I would look out for them.

LSU just beat UAB senseless at LSU by 23 points.

On another related note: a really bad Davidson team is up by 1 point against UNC at UNC with 3 minutes remaining in the game. Hopefully Draocex can give us an updated RPI soon showing how much Tulsa and ECU sucks and how both teams are keeping UAB from getting an at large bid into the NCAA tournament.
