They were nothing more than the foam peanuts of the album-oriented rock radio package.
Sister Christian defined the 80s. What are you talking about.

I met Huey Lewis, BTW.
Perhaps you’re right. During the 80’s I was hanging out at
CBGB and 688 Club… and not particularly into pop music.

I don't think so. I like the song, but no way was it particularly influential.
And music tends to be closer to a 5 year cycle than an entire decade.
If you want most defined of early 80s rock (not pop) I'd say look at Billy Idol. He overlapped with lots of genres.
Most influential? Van Halen was the precursor to the hair bands of the mid-80s.

fitz is good. did ya listen to the entire songs? as far as tv on the radio, that wasn't the best song i could play to indocturne a potential fan. i just happen to like it.
Does Night Ranger get extra credit for Jack Blades' work with Damn Yankees?
I don't recall any of the Loverboy guys doing anything extracurricular of note, aside from Mike Reno duetting with Ann Wilson on the Footloose soundtrack.

LOL at comparing something lame like Fitz and the Tantrums to something amazing like TVOTR.

Did Iggy ever play 688, or was he just at the Agora?

Yep, Iggy played 688.
I liked The Agora Ballroom, I saw the Ramones there a couple of times, once while
waiting in line a group of Hare Krishna's came up Peachtree playing drums and
cymbals, those guys rocked, people actually left their place in line and when out
into the street and started dancing.… it was the best opening act I ever saw at the Agora.
