Frankly, Cincinnati SHOULD want out. UC has done a lot of good work over the last two decades to get to where they are today: better both academically and athletically than everyone else in the 2014-15 version of the AAC.

They may have an edge on us athletically, but they are not even close when it comes to academics.

Connecticut's endowment and research dollars are minor-league in comparison to the University of Cincinnati. Cincinnati at least has a non-zero chance at an AAU invite; Connecticut's chances as of the moment are 0%.

That said, I forgot about Tulane --- they will be clearly #1 in the AAC on the academic side.

Sweet. When we end up in the AAU next year or the year after, I will have a link to this saved somewhere.

Obviously you haven't compared academic rankings between the two schools, like. ever.

Oh snap! I broke my own resolution.

What UConn and Cincy won't give American a chance? If new comer UCF can do it in this conference, why not Cincy and UConn?

Seriously, some posters are acting out of an inferiority complex. The problem is not the teams we play rather the money. This is a zero sum game, if you do not get an invite, you will not survive. The disparity in money has not been so great as it is now. The next move is to pay for players. It is not difficulty to see Cincinnati's position.

Sure. If switching conferences is so bad, then go back to CUSA.

The Big east was a dumpster fire. The AAC is whatever is worse than that.

Yup. Who knows what the P5 will do next... Maybe your way of being upfront will work out in your favor. Might as well give it a shot.

RE: Cincy is starting to piss me off
I can't blame the guy for being honest. UConn fans that watched the NYE game at UH were quoted as saying something to the effect of their team has neven been subject to playing in such a terrible, non-exciting atmosphere since they began playing in the Big East. Cincy fans and players couldn't have been very impressed either. Then, looking at the incoming teams, Tulsa, Tulane, and ECU. Other than experiencing ECU's football atmosphere, what's there to look forward to or get excited about for schools like Cincy, and even UConn? Tulsa doesn't draw flies in any sport, and they are coming off a terrible year in both football as well as basketball, while Tulane has also had awful attendance problems and until last season was a complete D1 doormat in football. I can't blame the Cincy AD for telling it like it is, and expressing what thet entire fanbase feels. They've worked hard the past several years, and they are looking down a dark tunnel right now in this junction for their program.

So what!!! SMU & Houston want in the Pac-12. Temple & UConn want in the ACC. Cincinnati, USF, UCF, Tulane, and Tulsa want in the Big 12. East Carolina wants in the SEC. And Navy prefers to remain independent. . . Doesn't mean it's going to happen

RE: Cincy is starting to piss me off
Don't paint all UC fans with the same brush. I actually get tired of hearing people say how bad the AAC is. It's not. The league football champion won a BCS game. This basketball league has several very good teams. But the issue is - it's all about the money.

The only reason I would want UC to move would be for the money. That's what any school in this league would do. I've actually not even had a chance to listen to the press conference yet so I'm not even sure what was said. But like everyone in this conference, UC is spending big bucks on facilities and playing the 'game' of trying to keep up with the arms race. Maybe the guy wanted to make a big splash. Maybe Ono told him to say it strongly. I don't know.

I suspect they will temper their comments some. If it was as bad as some are making it out to be they may even hear from the league about it.

Cool. Another reason to save a link to this thread: for when UConn's 3-9 football team (but hey, an on-going 3 game winning streak!) gets invited to the B1G "in the next year or the year after."

Glad this thread isn't saying "Cincinnati basketball players are nothing but thugs and criminals...", which, in the past, is what such a thread title would lead into.

The only thing that is holding UC back is lack of football fan support. If they were averaging 55-60k they would be in the ACC or B12.

RE: Cincy is starting to piss me off
The reality is... they want out, EVERYONE wants to be in the P5, not because the American Conference is a bad conference, but because its not P5 and its media payout (although highest of the G5) is nowhere near the P5... and you know what comments like this do to perception? They minimize it and create doubt within the media contract.

In Cincy, it's extremely damaging, because the school is perpetuating media comments about the inferior American, while the same media is talking up Xavier in the Big East - that BE is a new mid-major conference, while the American is the OLD BE with still major college basketball and best of G5 and BCS bowl game playing football programs.

It also hurts, because any chance that the media deal gets extended with a cash bump at the look-in during the the 2015-16 year takes a hit every time schools get outspoken like this... as media partners want stability NOT constant chatter of unhappiness, moving, and changes.

Sounds good to me, we won't be 3-9 next season either. But you boy lovers will still be Penn State.

Why? You're an east coast school, not a rust belt school. I know geography isn't as important as it used to be, but I would think the ACC would be more... your ilk.
