The guys at Moe are really high on Dotson, too. I'll get to see him on Friday. Looking forward to it

Interesting. I always heard Bama.

Another kid in that class who is not talked about who is REALLY GOOD IMO is Matt Dotson the TE from Moeller. I think he's a big-time prospect. Every time I see him it looks like he's grown more. I've seen him on the lower levels and he is huge, physical and very athletic. If not for Jake Hausmann he would have started for them last year as a sophomore.

Dotson will miss the first part of the season with a wrist injury.
His grandather (Steve Niehaus) was the Seahawks first pick ever and was NFC Defensive rookie of the year

I heard Colerain pushed Moeller around on both sides of the ball in their scrimmage.

Lakota East had their way with Lasalle's defense. Sounds like Lasalle D lost a lot from last year

Hate to hear that about Dotson. Moeller always seems to start out slow and improve more than anyone as the season goes on.

Lasalle lost pretty much everyone from their defense last year. I've been telling people they won't be nearly as good as last year. Still should probably win whatever division it is they are in but they should very beatable IMO.

Elder is going to be bad yet again on defense. They are running a new defense that was a disaster when they tried it a few years back. Those kids looked clueless on that side of the ball in their two scrimmages. It's amazing how bad Elder has been on defense over the last decade even the really talented ones were never very good.

Marcus, I thought you said this was the stud class for Elder a couple years back. Am I off?

It is. The talent is there. Best since 2008/2009. Putting in an entirely new defense the year you finally have the players to compete is truly baffling. They have some serious coaching issues when it comes to the defense IMO.

JMO, but I'd take Larkin all day over White.

Stow-Munroe Falls quarterback Kyle Vantrease is one of the top 2017 signal callers in Ohio, and he already holds a Cincinnati offer. Last weekend, Vantrease visited Ohio State.

One of the top 2017 quarterback prospects in Ohio is Kyle Vantrease, from Stow Munroe-Falls. He is coming off a strong sophomore season last year, and is playing well as a junior.

Vantrease, 6-foot-2, 210-pounds, has seen recruiting interest rise since having an excellent summer camp season. He holds an offer from Cincinnati, and last week was at Ohio State to watch the Buckeyes play Hawaii.

6'2" / 210 lbs / 4.8s

"It was great being at Ohio State on Saturday, and I loved everything about it," Vantrease stated. "I've rooted for Ohio State my whole life, and I've been to games there before. The facilities are great, and you can't beat the stadium and the campus. I know they have their quarterback for 2017 (Danny Clark), but it was still a great experience."

Cincinnati is the only school to offer Vantrease, although he is hearing from several others. He visited the Bearcats the previous week for their home opener against Alabama A&M..

"It was really great going to the game at Cincinnati," he explained. "I've also been invited to games by West Virginia, Purdue, and a lot of MAC schools. I do have an offer from Cincinnati, and it was my first time being there."

"Cincinnati has an impressive program, and I was there with my parents," he added. "I met with the coaches and the advisors they laid out everything, from academics to the football program. The academic people talked about everything, from getting the degree to how to perform in an interview.<"

"I like everything about the program, and I would go there in a heartbeat, but it's too soon to make a commitment right now," he admitted. "They have a great sports administration program, and that's what I want to major in. They have everything I want, but I want to leave my options open at this point."

Vantrease has led his team to an undefeated season to date, with over 600 yards in three games and six touchdown passes.

I'm fine with that if the coaches are. It's probably better than these "soft" commitments going around these days or "committed but visiting" or "committed but staying in touch". Gives both of us options if something better comes along. Not every kid in the US grows up following UC football as we all know. Maybe this one did though:

The Recruiting Trail
Mike Dyer, mdyer@enquirer.com 2:15 p.m. EDT September 17, 2015

UC offered Princeton junior defensive end Jamal Hines this afternoon, according to Princeton coach Calvin Johnson.

Hines, who is 6 feet 4 and 225 pounds, has 1.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery for the Vikings (2-1) this season.

Hines, who attended Michigan's camp this past summer, led the GMC with eight sacks in 2014.

The Bearcats are the first reported offer for Hines.

Princeton opens the GMC schedule at Lakota West (1-2) at 7 p.m. Friday.

Hines is a raw talent and well worth an offer, other colleges are going to offer him. I'm glad to see UC get on him 1st.

Good find Hawk

Quote:The University of Cincinnati became the first school to make a dash at landing rising 2017 prospect Elijah Gates, as the Bearcats emerged as offer No. 1 for the Buena Park wide receiver/defensive back on Tuesday, Oct. 27.

Gates - who leads the Coyotes with 566 receiving yards, eight receiving touchdowns, four pass break ups and has one fumble recovery in eight games - told Cali Gold Mine that he has positive vibes after receiving his first scholarship opportunity from a Football Bowl Subdivision school.

“It feels great. It's a huge blessing just knowing that my hard work is finally getting recognized,” Gates said.

Gates started to sell his name on the recruiting trail after his sophomore season. He linked up with club 7-on-7 team Rize Up and helped guide his team to deep tournament runs. Rize Up won the Los Angeles Pylon Invitational in March and qualified for Passing Down’s Best of the West tournament in April with Gates leading the ball-hawking charge.

At 5-foot-11, 175-pounds, Gates is a deadly three-way blend of catching, running and defending. He’s scored on four swing passes that saw him blaze the field for 26 yards or more.

On defense, Gates is Buena Park’s top island cornerback with his closing speed and angle pursuits to the football.

Gates added that Mississippi State, Norte Dame, UCLA, Washington State and Oregon are also showing interest.
