"Black code"- alive and well
First I'd ever heard of this, but more evidence that calling someone "raciss" is really just a standard way of trying to steal from them.

Quote:When Washington, D.C., councilman and former Mayor Marion Barry this week said that whites need to be “more open-minded” about African-American politicians, claiming “blacks are more open-minded than” whites, he was suggesting that whites can't do what blacks do -- embrace the other race.

But a new study of 212 black college students made available to Secrets found little open-mindedness: Blacks don't like it when other blacks associate with whites, to the point of refusing help to an African-American experiencing “a run of bad luck” -- just because they have white friends.

The study in the April edition of the authoritative journal Social Psychological and Personality Science found the so-called “black code” alive and kicking, prompting blacks far more than whites to frown on one of their own if they associate with the other race.

I guess nothing Dr. King said managed to make a dent after all.

RE: "Black code"- alive and well
Kind of like the GEICO "everybody knows that" commercial. It been a well known fact that when people are put in positions of making hiring decisions, they tend to hire their own race. Whites have been ostracized, punished and demoted for overtly hiring their own race, but blacks and even women are not held to the same standard. In fact, some city gov't departments are almost completely comprised of black people. Blacks comprise an 18% demographic, but that is never used as a standard. But is still swings both ways, there are other depts, that are predominantly white. The same happens when women are charged with hiring decisions. There are also tendencies to hire within one's own age or race group. So there seems to be a race code, black code, white code, age code and gender code. IMO

If the study implied that whites do the same thing then the crack head would call it proof of institutional racism in this country.

Blacks are more open minded than whites. No matter what the study said, Barry uttered those words.

Nobody is pretending, that's what the study says. They used data and facts and observed that black politicians are more likely to hire based on race and ostricize other black politicians for being too chummy with other races. Your are interpreting that to be racist.

Yes. Any study that attempts to suggest that one race is different than another is racist.

These are the kinds of studies that were frequently used to justify segregation.

All races are different though, if they weren't, people would look and act the same way.

The article didn't call for segregation or the removal of said politicians, just reported what it found. The thought that this nation will go back to some sort of Jim Crow era style of segregation is laughable.

There might be some physical characteristics that distinguishes the races but that is it.

Once you start attempting to suggest that the way people act has something to do with their race that is when the study begins to be racist.

I think anyone who say studies that show races can have different levels of racism are racist is racist.
