Nonsense.

Do you live in Boston? Have you spent time in Boston? Or is your opinion based on what people tell you. BC does have an impact in Boston. BC sits in the 7th largest media market and gets very good ratings and has an impact in Boston: See below:

Or this:

Tiny stadium? Its at 44.5K. (Bigger than Uconn's stadium, BTW).

Funny how a Tulane fan would be knocking the size of anyone's stadium.

Oh, and finally, BC has no interest in joining the BiG.

My mother and two best friends went to BC. My family still has season tics. I grew up in boston and lived in newton for 6 years. BC matters very little, you are burying your head in the sand. The B10 has no interest in BC, hell the aac membership would prob trade Uconn for BC. UConn puts more actual butt sin the seats despite playing a far worse schedule. The moment they get a B10 invite they will expand. The B10 has very little presence in Boston, unlike NYC.
What does my allegiance to Tulane have to do with anything, what a cheap simpleton response. Grow up.

Interesting post...you knock BC as having a "tiny stadium"...yet....BC's stadium is about one-third larger than Tulane's new stadium. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yulman_Stadium

Thats's why I made the mention of you being a Tulane fan. Then you get snippy that I point that out? Get a clue!

So, your experience with Boston/BC is that your mother and friends went to BC sometime in the past and you spent part of your childhood in the Boston area. That sums up your Boston experience? How often have you been there in the last decade, or two decades? How many times have you been to a BC game?

I attached a link to the actual TV numbers showing BC's television appeal......you offer nothing but an opinion. (BTW, take a look at where BC and Uconn sit in the ratings in that article.)

I gave you a link to a column from the most experienced sports reporter in Boston - an article chock full with facts and statisitcs. You offer nothing but an opinion.

Uconn puts more buts in the seats than BC? Not according to the NCAA. Check their stats for the 2 years and even these numbers may be high based what has recently been reported in the CT media:

http://touch.courant.com/#section/-1/art...-80101827/

You make the assumption that Uconn would expand their stadium if they got a BiG invite. Maybe they would. But you just assume that BC (if they wanted a BiG invitation), would not expand their stadium as well if such an invite was secured? On what basis do you make that assumption?

This is not a knock on Uconn at all. Just refuting the unsupported nonsense that you have posted.

I am sorry, but when you make statements that are refuted by FACTS; and when presented with the facts you double down on the statements, you look foolish.

What facts? Announced tickets? Good grief.

BC has been making tons of money from the ACC, playing a solid schedule and still there is little excess demand. Boston is not a B10 town in any way shape or form, you should know that....UConn has more than double the alumni base, far less mobile alumni and they have far less competition in their market. But, you knew that.....

Ok pal, let me make things clear to you, Tulane FBall has been a joke for decades and are thrilled to be in the dam AAC, so who the F cares about the stadium. Oh and we played in the Dome the last 30 years, which you ignore. I am also a fan of Penn State, does my opinion matter now. You are talking about BC to the B10 and you don't get that Alumni is tiny and the B10 is interested in markets and connections to their alumni, BC adds neither. You don't get how attendance numbers work and how inflated they are, oh I went to two BC FBall games last year. No one was at the games and the stands empty at half time. The athletic environment is simply brutal, great school but if they were located anywhere else then they would probably be in the AAC or worse. I am 34 and spent 29 years of my life in Boston and spent countless weekends at BC. I know tons of BC athletes as my buddies played baseball there and I played college ball at UMass so know tons of players. I travel to Boston at least 4-5 times a year for business/family. Should I continue?

I have literally never heard one person argue that BC has a tangible impact on the Boston market. UConn is growing in everything and wants it. BC has been awful and are a drain on the AAC currently. They would be a far worse add than even Rutgers and right now most B10 fans are not happy with that add. The idea of BC to the B10 is just simply crazy talk, I don;t understand how anyone (who was unbiased) can see it otherwise.

Lighten up Francis.

I am confused. First you claim that your mother and friends went to BC and you grew up in the Boston area. Now you claim you have lived in Boston most of your life, have gone to many BC games, know many BC athletes, went to two BC games last year, and the stands were "empty at half time." Sorry if I am a bit confused.

Well, I am a 35 year season ticket holder (have had season ticket since graduation in 1978), and I have not missed a home game in 5 years. Sorry, but at no game last year were the stands "empty at half time." That is BS.

Do you not understand that it might help to actually have FACTS to back up your claims.

You claimed BC has no impact in Boston, I linked for you that ACTUAL RATINGs for the national games in 2013. BC was #38 (Uconn was #59). BC had the #6 best ratings in big games in the ACC. It sits in the #7 media market and its games not carried on the national media are aired on NESN, the New England region's cable sports network. To suggest that BC is a "drain" on the ACC is idiotic and not supported by the facts.

You stated that Uconn has higher fan attendance. It does not. Check the NCAA stats.

You have not met any person any person that would argue that BC has a "tangible impact in Boston." Well Bob Ryan, the dean of Boston sports writers, would disagree with you. (Did you read the article I linked?)

Ya I grew up in Boston, what's confusing? Proud Middlesex League boy. Went to dozens of BC games. Spent many a night in the Fitz and the Mods.

They put any two P5 schools on national TV and they get ratings.

The stands at Alumni are absolutely bad, especially the "superfans", you need to check your prescription. The tailgate setup might be the worst of any P5.

NCAA stats are useless those are tickets distributed and especially inflated at BC. Despite playing a non-compelling schedule with a lame duck awful/hated coach, more butts were in the seats at UConn IMO....at the very least it was about equal. If UConn played BC's schedule they would flat out destroy BC's attendance and already expanded the stadium. Private schools are just too national now a days. You're plucking stats and comparing apples to oranges.

Bob Ryan's had to write a dam article trying to defend college sports, do you understand how bad that is to your argument. All after another author went nuts on how little they matter, are you freaking kidding me, that's a defense? Like most BC fans and alums of any school, you want to defend your school, great but it is a different time and BC is not adapting well.

This is not to bash BC, great school, but instead bash the premise that they are in anyway on the B10's radar. Again, the idea is just crazy town, IMHO.

Now I'm confused ... what possible contradiction could there be between having family and friends who live in the Boston area and growing up in Boston, on the one hand, and having lived in Boston most of his life or having gone to some BC games when he was back in Boston visiting friends and/or family, on the other hand.

On the contrary, the two seem quite compatible with each other.

And I'm even more confused as to what it has to do with the Big Ten pursuing a school they have no interest in adding and BC accepting an invite from a conference they have no interest in joining?

What can I say? Apparently, you are incapable of making any point with supporting facts. So you just spout nonsense. BTW, those are the attendance numbers reported by BOTH schools to the NCAA. You have no basis to make a claim that BC inflates its numbers.....NONE!

Look...every comment you have made about BC in Boston has been refuted with facts. You, on the other hand, have provided no facts, just your biased opinion. You just double down on your nonsense. You cite no evidence to back up your claims because you have none. You just go with your moronic "nobody cares about BC in Boston" line. The fact that you're presented with evidence to the contrary doesn't matter. It seldom does to a closed mind.

Oh, and FWIW, just what games did you attend last year? Let me be frank, I don't think you attended any. The BC student section is the best filled area of the stadium. Last year, it was either full or near full for every game. You would know that if you: (a) went to the games you claimed to and/or (b) were being intellectually honest. Sorry, but in this discussion, IMO, I have my doubts on (a) and am certain you are not re: (b).

(Does anybody else find it curious that the OP claims BC has no impact in Boston and the stadium is empty, yet he himself claims that, as a non-alum, non-fan, and not currently living in the area, he went to TWO BC home games last year. Methinks the OP contradicts his own statements!)

The amazing thing is that I do agree with you that BC is not a good fit for the BiG One school in the BiG is private. In the ACC, almost half of the schools are private. BC is in the right conference for them, IMO.

Everything else you have said is pure crap, IMO. Sorry.
