Jaylen Brantley of Marshall to transfer...
Jaylen Brantley who sat out last season at Marshall as a non qualifier is transferring to Odessa Junior College. He could not get his grades up high enough to participate in athletics at Marshall so he's moving on. Good luck to him. Hope it works out.

One more to report is prior commit Henry Uwadiae has been let go from his letter of intent.

Uwadiae was going to be a Herrion project player, that likely wouldn't materialize. He also doesn't fit into D'Antoni's system.

You guys got to quit signing so many non- qualifiers. We quit doing it years ago as Ole Miss and MSU were using it as an excuse not to play us.

Uwadiae wasn't a NQ, he was a JC 7'er from Africa who had only played for a few seasons...

Kane and Canty were both NQs. Other than that haven't had a lot in basketball.

Get the deadweight out of the program. Herrion took way too many risks on some kids and this is what we get. Glad we are cleaning house. This coming year looks to be brutal but we should be fine after that.

I disagree. That's one advantage we can use against the power conferences that dont allow NQs. I think CUSA teams should take advantage of that and get those players on campus when possible when they are good fits for the programs.

Otherwise, those players go prep school or juco and end up signing with the big money teams. The other teams have too many advantages already. We have to use the few we have.

Why? Doc has had zero problem with them. To date just two of the many we have brought in didn't get eligible. One was a WVU flunkie that just quit and the other just couldn't do it. Fact is Herrion wither couldn't effectively evaluate character or chose to ignore it. Doc only brings in kids that struggle with test scores not classroom work.

Brantley is only leaving because of Herrion. He is qualified but if he simoly transfers he has to sit out. This way he plays one season at a JUCO and then goes elsewhere.

No matter what so many choose to believe props are not detrimental to Marshall.

Kids don't go to Juco route because they have great grades and want to hone their skills against top notch competition. They go there so they can take fluff courses, make the grades and then head out to D1 schools who will pick them up.

Ryan Taylor was also a NQ.

Or it is a route to avoid the transfer rule. Stupid but this way he can play. He and a friend of his were on twitter talking about heading to JUCO and "doin it big" then making it to the "big time". Like I said if he just transfers to another school he will be sitting out his second straight season.
