Yeah I know. I remember it when it actually was used to brew and sell beer. I use to know a guy that told me that when he worked at the brewery, they'd all sit around Friday afternoons and drink beer on the dock. Pretty cool job if you ask me.

Yeah, I remember it. They actually brewed it right hear in New Orleans, although I don't think that was the main brewery. I actually miss those pre-Budweiser beers a lot... Schaeffer was my go-to in college, at $1.89 per six-pack.

Oh yeah! And you'd get all $1.89 cents worth of it. But hey, that's what us teenagers used to do and we didn't care, we just wanted to get smashed. Cheaply.

It's a Laverda motorcycle ad from the 1970s. I ride a CB350 cafe and I wish I had a Laverda, like the ad above with the two 70s classy bike chickies in the ad. I believe they're Italian girls because the brand comes from Italy.

The 281/1604 area is the best part of the city in my opinion. There are a ton of places around there for great food and libations

RE: UTSA Fans
I guess I am ancient by this board standards, but Pearl was the biggest selling beer in Texas for decades into the sixties with Lone Star following. Both where brewed in San Antonio. Than national advertised beers took completely over and people who wouldn't know a good beer if they had one, followed herd like to brands like Budweiser, Coors and Miller.

Now at least with the micro breweries and larger varieties available, some are smartly once more venturing away from the big national brands. [/b]

In the good old days, there was Lone star, pearl, miller, falstaff, jax, Shlitz and Budweiser. I was a jax and Shlitz guy. Great beers especially when they were ice cold. Now don't drink as much but when I do I prefer dos Equis with lime and salt. Back in my day we called Miller Beer "la guerita" which translated is the "Blonde".

Reminds me of my favorite Irish joke:

One night, Mrs McMillen answers the door to see her husbands best friend, Paddy, standing on the doorstep.

"Hello Paddy, but where is my husband? He went with you to the beer factory"

Paddy shook his head. "Ah Mrs McMillen, there was a terrible accident at the beer factory, your husband fell into a vat of Guinness stout and drowned"

Mrs McMillen starts crying. "Oh don't tell me that, did he at least go quickly?"

Paddy shakes his head. "Not really - he got out 3 times to pee!"

pretty much. Our city leaders sometimes get wrapped up in the "7th largest city" nonsense, but anyone that has spent some time here will quickly realize it's not even a big city, more like a really large town.

Which, IMO, is the biggest part of its appeal. 04-cheers
