Baseball -- May 9-11
The picture is trying to get clearer, but after the top three of Rice, UAB and USM, there is some real battling going on.

ODU has taken two games from Marshall this weekend and is leading in the third. This is the Monarchs' last conference series, so after this one, ODU will have to see what everyone else does while they go OOC for their last four games.

Is this fun, or what!

EDIT: The Monarchs take the third game 8-3 for the sweep. That wraps up regular season conference play for ODU at 17-13.

04-cheers

UAB sweeps Tulane, giving up 1 earned run over the weekend, and running it's current winning streak to 10.

One game out of first.

It's getting hot on the south side.

Rice's final series is against LA Tech. I'd be shocked if you make up that game. Top three spots aren't likely to change next weekend.

UAB finishes with 4 Top 100 games all on the road. Currently at 59 in the RPI. If by some chance we could get to Top 50, it would help Rice and possibly ODU.

Top 8 for the conference tournament is almost set too. I guess Florida Atlantic has an outside chance at getting 8th but they probably have to sweep UAB? Otherwise, the current top 8 will be the 8 playing in the conference tournament.

I could see Rice slipping up and losing one game next weekend but I'd be shocked if they finish worse than tied with UAB for the conference title (and Rice owns the tie-breaker so they're the likely #1 seed). But I guess that's why they play the games.

It looks like your right. The seeds could juggle a little bit here in the last week, but the eight teams seem to be set unless FAU pulls a miracle out of the grab bag.

I don't really expect UAB to overtake Rice, but playing really well and not being in pod with them, I can live with. 03-lol

RE: Baseball -- May 9-11
After UTSA beat Rice 4-2 on Friday, the Roadrunners lost the next 2 by a wide margin. Both the Saturday and Sunday game has a 6 run performance by the Owls in the 9th. I'm glad we didnt get swept but UTSA really took a hit in the standing after that series loss. Unless something crazy happens we will be in the tourney
