Lou Reed made the list and he doesn’t even sing.

Scott Weiland IMO has about the same range as AXL. They both can sing a lot of different styles.

Dolly Parton has the same range as Bjork.

Lead singer of Boston would have blown everyone away in the rock n roll category.

It’s a matter of opinion, no one would argue that John Lydon has a
great voice... but there’s not a better sound for Public Image Ltd.

It's not so much the range but how you use the vocals within the range. To your point AA, Axl was the perfect fit stylistically for a band like GnR who also happened to have a dynamic vocal range. However, no one will ever convince me that Axl was a better vocalist than Elvis, Marvin Gaye, Freddy Mercury, Bono, Robert Plant, etc.

Nobody was a better vocalist than Freddie Mercury.

List is incomplete without Captain Beefheart.
