Thanks so much. I was a little alarmed since all our recruits were just 2* on rivals, but this makes me a little more optimistic. Please keep us informed.

RE: Summary of 2015 Tulsa Football Recruits
As of today July 1, OSU has 8 football verbals, 1 from Oklahoma and 7 from Texas. Two are 4-Star recruits. OU has 7 football verbals with one from Oklahoma and one from Illinois. Four are 4-Star recruits. So out of 15 verbals, OU and OSU have verballed only 2 Oklahoma recuits.

A few years back, OU and OSU changed their recruiting and went deep into Texas. I attribute that to the configuration of the B12, which brought in the Texas schools. OU went national some years ago in recruiting and OSU has recently emphasized out of OK/TX recruiting also.

That leaves plenty of good football players to be had in Oklahoma and it is no wonder that schools like Texas Tech, TCU, Kansas, KSU, and ISU hit Oklahoma in a strong way. Oklahoma turns out about 30 to 35 IA commitments each year. The big winner here is Tulsa. That was TU's recipe for success in CUSA. It remains the recipe for success in AAC.

Because Oklahoma is a smaller state in population, many of the Oklahoma recruits don't have an abundance of IA offers and maybe none at all. This is more a reflection of travel around the state to see these prospects that out of state recruiters are not willing to invest in. Fly into Dallas/Ft. Worth or Houston, and see many, many recruits. Which recruiters are willing to drive around Oklahoma's broad expanses. The recruiting philosophy for TU under Blankenship and previous coaches is "a gas tank away." That is TU's ace in the hole.

If TU had a QB in 2012, I think TU stood a good chance of going undefeated. QB woes got even worse in 2013. But the good news is that the dismal 2013 year apparently is not causing recruiting to deteoriate. TU is maintaining its place in the pecking order and that pecking order led to a very successful record in CUSA. If Coach Blankenship can find himself a good QB, there is no doubt in my mind TU will fare very well in 2014.

I regard last year's recruiting class as very strong, especially on the defensive side. Those three DTs signed was especially pleasing.

Forget the star ratings. Forget the competing BCS offers. What is crucial is TU continues to do what it has done in the recent past--sign a dozen quality Oklahoma H.S. players, throw in a half-dozen or so from Texas, and fill in with Louisiana, Arkansas, and Kansas H.S. players. Signing those Oklahoma kids provides the base to allow TU to be more picky when it goes out of state to recruit.

Sometimes, it is interesting to watch TU "not offer" a recruit and sometimes this is as interesting as watching those recruits offered by TU. For example, Kaden Jackson, C/FB, is a highly rated recruit from Kingfisher, Oklahoma by the various recruiting services. Jackson has five IA offers including NM, UNT, Ohio, UTEP, and WY. Yet, TU did not offer.

Instead, TU offered Center Blake Browning who had offers from Army, Navy, and UTEP.

Recruiting mainly OK is a poor idea. We did that in the past several years, and the talent level fell off. Our best teams have been with recruits from Texas & Louisiana.

Personally I'm excited to see how last year's cycle of recruits (2013-14) does. Petera Wilson looked like he could be an absolute steal, as did Jabe Burgess and a couple of the speedy Wide - Outs we grabbed. We need new guys to step up because the old ones didn't last year. (Except Trey Watts)

Although 247 shows Tulsa with two 3 star recruits on the their page for 2015. Tulsa's total ranking is last when compared to the other teams in the AAC for 2015 recruiting. Showing zero 3 stars, which is why they were ranked last. Even Memphis and Tulane show at least four 3 stars showing why they are ahead of Tulsa. That's a problem.

I would like to see Tulsa get into recruiting Florida also. Like Texas there are a ton of good players in Florida.

RE: Summary of 2015 Tulsa Football Recruits
Word is now that we may pick up a Baylor decommit at the QB position.

Chad President 6-3 195 Temple, Tex

I looked at his highlights on Max Preps and he is made to order for what I think our future QB will need to be. He seems to have legitimate height. He is a very elusive runner and scrambler with good speed. He has a very good arm on the deep throws which I think will be a necessity in the PM offense. This could be a huge pickup and the first 4 star "skill" recruit since Demaris Johnson (I believe).

If this comes true, Coach PM will make a huge splash and this will send a message to the other QBs that we no longer expect them to manage games, but win them!

Go TU!

RE: Summary of 2015 Tulsa Football Recruits
McKinley Whitfield, a safety/athlete from Spiro, OK - 6-4 200 has flipped back to TU. That is very good news. From what I've seen, we have 4 or possibly 5 decent commits so far. The Texarkana RB, Anderson DE from Owasso, Whitfield and President from Temple Tex, of course. If we can keep committing and signing players like these and distancing ourselves from the BB recruits, we will be fine and will be on our way to righting the ship.
