BYU isn't eligible for it since they aren't in a G5 league.

Can't they still get voted in though?

A 12-0 BYU is likely Top 10 in most rankings at the end of the season.

They can get one of the at large bids or a playoff bid, but they aren't eligible for the one reserved for the top G5 team. Basically the way it looks right now if BYU goes undefeated I'd assume at worst they'd get one of the at large bids, but if they lose even 1 game they'll be playing in the Miami Beach Bowl.

Yeah. BYU opting out of the Mountain West and Not joining a conference for a conference championship, etc -- hey, they deserve a penalty for getting more money for yourself being a G5-level team.

Now, with a tough schedule (as Independents usually have) -- they control their own destiny. It will just be harder to get an At-Large with 1 loss compared to ECU or Cincinnati.

But in essence, it'll be the same as PREVIOUS YEARS, where for G5 conferences, they at least know ONE of them is always going to go.

BYU has *no* reason to complain about the situation. You're "better" than teams in G5 conferences? Great. Get an At-Large the same way 2nd or 3rd place SEC/PAC12 team has to.

It seems the votes are saying that also. ECU has more votes than Marshall even when Marshall won big. Although, with CUSA having a CCG, it could turn into a toss-up with that extra game and if a good team is on the other side.

If both ECU and Marshall win out from this point forward, ECU will get the nod no matter what IMO. ECU's already ahead in both polls and even though they don't count it is still an inference to how the 2 teams are viewed and also the committee has specifically stated that SOS is a paramount concern.

ECU has #25 UNC in Greenville this weekend which is a more highly regarded team than any Marshall will face all season. If ECU wins that one then the gap will widen considerably. Additionally, Cincy is likely a better opponent than any Marshall will face all year and despite UCF's setbacks this season they are still a noteworthy team that will get better as the season progresses.

The most impressive thing about ECU so far is the fact that they've been more than competitive against VT & SC both on the road outgaining both of them. ECU actually had more yards against SC than UGA did and the ECU D also held SC to less yards than UGA did as well.
