Clemson football's academic success paying off on the recruiting trail
http://www.independentmail.com/orange-an...ting-trail
Quote:Since Dabo Swinney has been at Clemson, the Tiger football program's Academic Progress Rate and Graduation Success Rate have been among the best in college football.
Now Clemson's academic emphasis is paying dividends on the recruiting trail, as well - and not just by appealing to parents eager for their sons to tap into a support system designed to guide them from orientation to graduation.
When 13 of the players committed to Clemson's 2015 recruiting class signed Financial Aid Agreements last week, it was done with the understanding, first, that they're on track to graduate from high school in December, and second, that Clemson will have room to take them as scholarship players beginning in January.
"I think it's a great reflection on our program, because it means that our seniors are graduating," Swinney said. "You can't bring guys in mid-year if you don't have spots. This is a great sign, because nearly all of our guys (seniors) will be graduated by this December. There are a couple who'll probably need to roll over into the spring, but just about all of them will graduate.
"That's a great reflection on the standards we have academically, the job that Vickery Hall and all those people do, and our guys in what they do to finish here."
Since Dabo Swinney became head coach at Clemson 83 of 90 seniors have graduated. The seven who didn't all played in the NFL.

Typical nowhereville puff piece. This is exactly what I was talking about in the Miami thread earlier this week.

Better graduation rate than UNC even when they were conducting widespread academic fraud.

It's been in UNC's blood since at least the 1940's when they recruited Choo Choo Justice and I would imagine it was long before that. It's just that now the whole world knows what the rest of us in the ACC have known for years. The "Carolina Way" is a sham.
