App st got to the also receiving votes category after they beat Michigan all those years ago. They'll never get enough votes to actually get into the top 25. Also, they couldn't be in the BCS computer/ polls that they used last year just because they are FCS.

I think they were getting some at the end of last year too. I think they would be a Bowling Green like team if they played FBS consistently.

They are the three time FCS champions. When you look at the FCS teams knocking off BCS teams, I think it is fair to say that the top tier FCS teams are pretty good. These guys are the best of the best when it comes to FCS.

They're 3-0 with a win over a Big XII team. Granted other than the win over Iowa St. their record is nothing much to crow about but I think it is a fair show of respect for what they have accomplished.

With Fargo's metro being over 200k and with no real competition from a BCS team or a pro team in North Dakota, I would think that these guys would have a shot at being a Boise type team if they ever moved up.

By the way, any AD looking for a coach after this season should have the name Craig Bohl in their rolodex.

I think we were getting top 25 votes when we were undefeated in 1999. (at the end of the season, not beginning tho)

We got quite a bit. Enough to rank us 10th. We were in the MAC by then. Did you mean 97?

Well I'll be... they beat Iowa State... Nice win. Don't get cocky kid.

I don't think you can count the Sisters of the Incarnate Word as much more than a scrimmage. 03-lmfao

Yeah, who schedules teams like UIW and Alabama A&M? Seriously, those are some bad schools.

Their conference play is usually pretty brutal, so that's how they plan to keep their #1 ranking to get that 1 seed in the playoffs.

We were FBS in 199 and finished 10th in the final AP poll. We did not receive any votes in 1996 in the AP, even though that is widely regarded as the best 1-AA team ever. It wasn't "hip and cool" to vote for a 1-AA team then. (I think it is still just silly and a waste of points on someones ballot, FCS has their own poll).

We finished with 33 points, #29, in 1997.

The rules were changed in 2007 to allow votes for FCS teams. Appalachian State was the first FCS team to receive votes in both the weekly and final polls. Since then, a few teams receive votes periodically. I'm aware of App, EWU, JMU,and NDSU at least getting votes during the season in the past, and there is a guy who always puts the FCS champ at #25 on his year end ballot.

They are also FCS. Makes absolutely zero sense to have in FCS school in an FBS Top 25 poll now doesn't it?

It only the AP poll that allows FCS teams to be ranked. It is not strictly a FBS poll like the coaches poll or other polls out there.

Its not the same people every year that have votes. And regardless, it is ridiculous. They need to just keep it seperste. FCS poll for fcs, fbs for fbs. It is like ranking a college team in the nfl power rankings.
