FAU opens as a 9 point favorite. Must say that surprises me.

DISCLAIMER BEFORE TRASH TALK: Most FIU fans know I respect the crap out their institution and their fans. I always wish the Panthers the best of luck 51 weeks out of the year, but on that 52nd week......

I won't get into attendance since ours blows as we'll, but I'll pit our student body interest vs FIU's any time. Our students show up in force.

RE: FAU vs FIU Shula Bowl week.
Since I love technicalities, I looked up the 2005 situation. The NCAA forced FIU to vacate victories, not forfeit. There is a difference in that vacating a victory does not award a victory to FAU.

I first learned about this in 2010 when amrshall lost to Ohio State, but OSU then had to vacate the victory. Marshall still counts the loss, but Ohio State does not get to count the victory in its win total.

Since this was vacated, you have an odd situation where FIU is 2-8 against FAU, but FAU is 8-3 against FIU. This oddity represents that the result of the game played but penalizes the vacated victor from claiming credit for the win.

FAU vs FIU Shula Bowl week.
You mean 9 and 3 vs fiu

Also the blowout 31 0. Win by Fau in 2006 was left off the list

Ragu, reread my post. The 2005 game was vacated, not forfeited, so that is not an FAU win.

The Marshall fan has it right. Vacated and forfeited is not the same thing.

At any rate, who cares. I hope it's a good game come Thursday and we manage to "steal" the game, given our offensive woes so far this season. It will be an uphill battle, but that's why the games are played on the field.

Go Panthers!

FAU vs FIU Shula Bowl week.
You guys both have it wrong. This is the 13th matchup. Only 11 of the 12 years are listed. Fau won in 2006 too. Fau has won 9 of 12 vs fiu

I never gave the 2005 won to Fau. We still won 9 of the games. 9 and 2 in the books. 9 and 3 on the field

The OP is missing the 2006 result, so it does appears to be 9 wins for FAU.

No, he's right. Vacated is not = forfeited. That's the point, not the number of years. For some reason the FAU website forgot to list the 2006 that FAU won handily. Out of the 12 games played, FAU has won 9 and FIU 3, but for record-purposes FIU vacated that win of 2005. If it was "forfeited", then the record would be 10-2.

FIU has an elementary school on campus, and surprisingly it is not attended by those who live on campus. Instead, this real life elementary school's mascot is the mighty Skeeters.

Thank you, that is all.
