Stupid question: What is the relationship between Michigan State and Ohio State? Do they hate each other? Is there a friendship?

Guarded respect? I am not working in the US at present, and so am not in contact with any Buckeyes fans other than my family, and had moved away from central Ohio well before that, so I couldn't speak for Buckeyes fans in general, but it seems like what the two schools have most in common is that both hate that school up north ... which isn't the basis for a friendship, per se ... but the animosities run deep.
TSUN voted against MSU being admitted to the Big Ten (in 1949), and one rumor is that in the conference vote in '73 after The Tie, MSU voted for OSU to go to the Rose Bowl, in retaliation (another rumor is that they voted for themselves to go, with the de facto abstention still handing OSU the Rose Bowl invite).
I know that I cheered for MSU to win the Rose Bowl last year, as I would for any Big Ten school other than TSUN.

From my point of view the enemy of my enemy is my friend. To me OSU and MSU are cousins in hatred of the Arrogant A**holes from Ann Arbor. I harbor no ill will towards tOSU.

RE: Congrats Bucks
Interesting and insightful. I was highly dissapointed that the Cats couldn't pull out the win last Saturday over the wolvs. It would have been a dagger in the heart of any bowl hopes Michigan has
