I am very worried about this one. The planets are aligning in UAB's favor. Nothing would surprise me. We are gonna have to play very well and not turn the ball over.

Completely true, and I wouldn't want it any other way. I want us to earn whatever comes our way at the end of the season.

While I'd be happy for Marshall to get the Access Bowl bid - all I can say is we've screwed things up before (see USM game a few yrs ago) so why would we stop now. We've our own fight & a win for us helps in that regard. Nothing personal it's just business

If you are talking about 2011 USM, we screwed them over well before you did. USM had 2 losses that year. UAB in their 11th game. We beat them in game #2 26-20. Craig Ratanamon pinned USM inside the 5 4 times and inside the 10 2 times in that game. USM was already screwed before UAB got them.

Yes true but they were still in talks for a BCS bowl when we beat them then lost to us so were out of it at that point even after they beat Hou in the championship game. It also started their downfall to their current misery of the past couple of years. Ya'll are still in the Access Bowl talk just like they were, lose to us & ya'll are probably replaced. It's a big game for both teams. I'll be there hoping it's us but should it not be, I hope ya'll do well in the remaining games

It ain't UAB's job to get Marshall into an access bowl.
Not only that, but if Marshall gets into an Access Bowl and has a great showing...they'll be first in line to get out of C-USA...so it wouldn't even benefit the conference that much.

Marshall is "stuck", just like UAB and USM. Most of the newbies have a better chance "moving up" if there is even a better place right now.
Conferences grow under certain criteria and it is mostly sequential:
1) College Ranking/Mission (US News extensive/intensive research schools) This takes Marshall out of the mix first off.
2) Program Value (Revenue, assets, yearly donations)
3) Disposable endowment (ability to readily upgrade)
4) Market
All re-alignment since the late 70's has followed this protocol even though schools in highly attractive markets (Florida, Texas, California) have been able to circumvent the other criteria. Field success has little to do with it unless that success improves the 4 primary drivers.

Yeah, but we went 3-9 that season, USM is a rivalry game for us, and they were talking about going to the Sugar Bowl at the time.
Until we beat them. Didn't hear about that any more afterward.
So ok, you beat them first, but we got a lot more juice out of it.

You know what's good for the conference? For Marshall to come in here trying to finish an undefeated season, for UAB to be fighting for the program's life, and for a really good football game to result. You guys scare me a lot. You look a lot like I think Clark will have us looking in a couple of years, but this is his first.
It's a great group of kids and they are really motivated. I hope it's a great game and gets some good play on the news.
And we beat you to go bowl eligible.

Actually no. We would've been in a BCS bowl had we not lost to UAB that year.

Don't let Twitter get to you. Most Herd fans have been very respectful and humble. They've been saying all year what a tough game this could be.
It must be difficult to stay grounded when you are winning every game by 30+ points.

I wouldn't pay any attention. We have faced the same circumstance all year. Every team we face has swore they would easily win because our wins are a product of a weak schedule. We are not as good as advertised, and their team will be the real test. Winning works wonders. Suddenly, we become one of the most talented teams they will face all year.
Fans will be fans. We all expect our teams to come out on top. With that said, Legion is a tough place to play, and UAB has talent. I don't think that our team or most of our fan base is taking you lightly. Of course, I am a Marshall fan, so Marshall wins...lol.

LOL, I find it funny when people say that.
For Marshall it seems to be a tough place to play. We have a split series 2-2 at legion. I think it is a unique place to play because not many teams play in a stadium that is 2-3 times to large for its fanbase. I think that's why it makes it hard to play because it is harder for the players to vibe off of the crowd.

Legion field is tough for two reasons, first you guys usually have good athletes, not always a good team, but some good players. Second, and more important, the visiting team has to provide their own energy. That has always been a problem for this group because they love the crowd, friendly or hostile. We seem to be over that with a couple good performances in lightly attended road games already this year.

Banker is dead on. The Herd, the coaches know this will be a tough test, as do the fans. Most pointed to this game as one we could easily trip up. Lets hope not.

Oh please. Barring a turnover-fest or season-ending injury to Cato Marshall should win this game by at least 4 TDs.
