I wonder if the players even think about this? In rivalres like Auburn/Bama, OSU/Michigan, etc I'm sure they think about it but I'm not so sure that happens in the AAC.

Maybe not but it's my reason to be excited for this one, along with being Carden and Hardy's senior night.

I think UCF will score enough and our defense will make stops enough to win. ECU will get their points though.

01-wingedeagle 15 off turn overs (one a blocked punt in the endzone) D gave up only 24 points.

Lol 24 points is a ton especially to Tulsa.
First team D gave up 11 points by UCF standards

I like the fact that this is the 2nd emotional road game in a row for UCF. Last year ECU beat up on NCSU in Raleigh & then had to travel north to battle Marshall & we all know how that turned out. UCF may earn my respect but it's gonna be hard to come into Greenville and be the 1st team to beat ECU here since VT narrowly did in early September of 2013.

The ECU players definitely want to spoil UCF's title hopes. They, like the fan base, are aware of the politics involved in conference realignment and how both of our programs are still jockeying for position. They aim to please their coaches and the fans and ECU always plays for pride. I expect a big crowd & a great night game atmosphere.

27-24 UCF.
your QB will have a ton of yards but ECU will struggle in the red zone.

RE: UCF @ ECU: Pirates get to play the underdog/spoiler roll at home.
I am probably one of the few fans on this board to have seen both teams in person this year so here is my take.

UCF Defense is better than ECU's period. ECU Offense is better than UCF's period. We all pretty much know that going into the game. ECU is normally very solid against the run and our secondary can be an absolute dumpster fire at times. UCF loves to run the ball and they will try to establish that. Hopefully O'Leary will stick to the run before he figures out throwing against us is not too tough.

The intangibles is what team comes out pumped up to play a game on Thursday night in December. As ECU fans know all too well we have not seemed to have played an inspired game since the UNC beat down. If that team shows up to play the final home game of the year on Senior night I would like our chances. If the flat ECU team that has taken over the second half of the season that just rolls the ball out on the field and only digs in its heels when behind or about to go behind comes out on the field than I think UCF wins.

UCF would definitely be one of the best wins of the year for ECU if not the best at this point so it is going to take a great game by ECU with reduced penalties and big plays given up by the secondary to win this game.

I can't believe it's already time for Shane's and Justin's last home game.

I just hope it's not too darn cold, as I've got kids in tow.

We had like five fumbles, most in our side of the field. You still only kept them to 6 less points. LOL that's a ton.

Yah ezu fans I wasn't saying let's compare defenses I was just pointing out to the guy who said "it's only 24 points!" Which actually is a whole lot of points to give up. Ucf has clearly a better D and ezu has clearly even Moreso a better offense. Classic matchup.

Except our defense didn't give up those points. Tulsa only scored 11 on a full field.

Ok, how about the 24 that SMU scored?

How about the 17 that USF's atrocious offense scored?

How about the whopping 54 scored by Cincy?

20 by Temple?

Just please admit that ECU's defense is suspect but you have a very good offense so we can move along.

LOL 2nd string in for the majority of the game. First string goes in and shuts them down.

0 in the second half. We had a pick in our own redzone

Cincy would put 30+ up on you guys. Already said it was a bad game.

Already addressed. Temple had one scoring drive.

I like our chances for two reasons. It's at home, we haven't lost a conference home game since 2011. Additionally UCF is a run first offense, we matchup well against teams that try to run it up the gut against us.

We will have to continue to improve with limiting penalties and turnovers to beat UCF. Our special teams play also needs to step it up. We are still continually poor on both KO returns and KO coverages. We start in poor field position and give the opposition good field position way too much. I'd also like us to not take the ball first in this game. I'd like to see our defense set the tone early and us have the second half option this time.

Two mediocre teams...luckily for the Pirates this game is at home and Pirates play very well at home! It'll be interesting to see if UCF can contain the Pirates offense! I don't believe they've seen an offense even close to as good as the Pirates. I also don't think the Pirates have seen a defense as good as UCF's! I'm glad UCF doesn't sling the ball all around the field like Cincy!

You are a pretty tough judge to call both "mediocre."
