Would UMass move all sports to CUSA? I'm not sure if that is a hot mess they want to get into.

A CUSA East division with MTSU, WKU, Marshall, Charlotte, ODU, FAU, FIU has a lot of rivalries in it. That is why expanding in the West with ULL makes a lot of sense from a balance perspective. A new rival for La Tech and Southern Miss.

The MAC's per school payout is 875k with the new ESPN TV deal which is very close to what CUSA is making in its current deal that is due for a hit with CUSA leaving. Ohio is not going to leave the MAC, ESPN and 3 hour bus rides for CUSA.

IF UAB drops football:
I don't think we replace UAB, unless it is with UMass FB only.

There was no support at all to expand FROM 14, and indeed many presidents were only lukewarm to expansion TO 14, in the name of realignment protection.

-The CFP favors 12
-We can still have a football CCG
-Scheduling is a bit more problematic but not impossible

I think CUSA waits and watches UTEP for a potential move to the MWC.
There is no urgency to do anything immediately.

Akron would go. There's more value in differentiating from the other Ohio MAC schools than just TV money.

Don't see UMass going.

Just throwing this out there and I'll stop pimping, but Louisiana is very close to signing an exclusive deal with CST to carry all Cajuns football games as well as multiple other sporting events. CST is broadcast in over 17 states. Our media market is about to explode.

Georgia Southern probably the best time out there. Ga State for the Atlanta Market but a horrible team. Going outside the box, N Ill for the Chicago area. BYU. they probably say no, give them a call. Move a team to the east, allow BYU in the west, provides them Bowl Access, allow them to keep BYU home game TV deal and shot at G5 access spot. Imagine a BYU vs Marshall playing for CUSA Championship.

Can we please move this crap to the smack board until we get an official announcement.

I know. It's horrible and embarassing. I apologize.

these things should be moved to the realignment forum. our mods usually move **** for next to no reason. I have no idea why they are willing to tolerate this.

UAB was headed to the west to make room for Charlotte, so despite UAB playing 2014 in the east, the hole they would be leaving is in the west.

It's in another thread. No sense in denying reality. Nobody wants to replace UAB because nobody wants to see them go. But if they have to go, might as well discuss the options on the table.

yeah, because it totally matters. our craptastic commissioner is sure to seek advice from an internet discussion forum.

reality is when it happens. before that, and you're just being intentionally and avoidably disrespectful.

Just as putting our heads in the sand and saying fight UAB anonymously on a message board does absolutely nothing as well.

It's a fricken message board for God sakes. We are just talking sports topics and have no bearing on them saving the program.

And this isn't smack talk. It is talking about news that is coming out. Everyone is fine if UAB does make it and keep football.

This is a thread to talk about contingency plans if it doesnt work out...

If you dont like it don't post in it. You have that freedom to do so .

The question is who will be their replacement if this sticks?

I'm guessing it is a western division team from the sun belt.

South Alabama

Louisiana Lafayette

Texas state

Arkansas state

First is the obvious choice but I really want Lafayette

Can't we just stay at 13. We already have enough mouths to feed.

This!

I'm not sure either would want to, but might as well ask. Maybe a MAC school wants to differentiate itself from other conference mates.

UMASS needs to **** or get off the pot. Join an FBS conference or go back to FCS. FBS independent isn't going to work out.

If those two say no, then add nobody or go to the SBC and see if you can still convince schools it is a good idea to move.

Oh yeah now the my school has been here longer argument. So you are more entitled to talk about a sport you probably never played for at said school. Fantastic.

It is news. It isnt us making it. It is a thread on what to do if they are without football.

if you dont understand that longevity is central to the formation of mutual respect, then you dont understand anything. uab is one of the few remainder schools in the conference. it matters.

by the way, you suck as a conference brother.

While I have no say in the matter, with the current locations of CUSA schools I assume it would be looking into a school to fit in the West. UNLESS.... and I am not even sure I believe what I am typing but CUSA goes after JMU and pushes someone West.

I don't think there is enough good left in the SBC to take ANOTHER TEAM.

Would the revelations about the MAC's tv deal get someone to jump?
