Look, ill be the first to say, what he intended was for a good thing, the way Jerry Sr. went about it was not the best. I won't get into a bible preaching war with you, but you can best believe Jerry Sr. said alot of things that were not for the purpose of bringing glory to god persay. He made some downright ignorant comments that, lets be honest a supposed christian wouldn't say, and would/could be refuted by his own bible. But those were his opinions and you cant change that. He was human just like the rest of us, so we all may have said things or done things that you probably wish you could take back. It put the "University" he so beloved in a bad light, that Jerry Jr. has had to try and dig out of. He has done that by in large and the University is prospering. Noone is trying to change anything, they know what they signed up for when they accepted the acceptance letter into LU.

Point well made with clarity and focus. I hope we can have the dialogue here be about sports. This is a sports bbs. Everyone, especially LU fans here, know about LU. I am as strong a supporter of LU athletics as anyone. When back home in Lynchburg, I always try to catch a men or woman's BB game or a hockey game. I am yet to see the baseball complex and am very much looking forward to experiencing that facility.

I've defended LU and the untruths that have been stated by many LU naysayers on CSNbbs. At times, LU has taken a bbs beating and myself, Knucklehead and others have spoken up/written and countered the disparaging remarks. This is one very good reason to have our own, active forum where we can agree, disagree, discuss and stimulate, challenge and hold each other accountable.

I am a fan that supports the athletics of LU in attending games and with a modest financial contribution. I want the school to succeed, prosper, excel and become FBS. I know there are many, many things the school has done in the past that are very noteworthy in the community. The impact and advantages of LU greatly outweigh the negatives. Now, let's get the MBB program on track now, have openings occur in the C-USA and SBC, and get LU into FBS. If we can average 17k+ playing low level FCS football, we should easily be in the mid to upper 20ks with FBS and grow from there. And those numbers exceed most C-USA and SBC conference attendances.

JMU boasts they can bring 5-7k, which is likely true with the close proximity to LU and with the playoff victory of LU over JMU, it bodes well for a new, single game attendance record. Montana will also be a popular game but it is a stretch to believe they will travel as well as a couple hour drive to Lynchburg for JMU.

No, I meant if we moved to FBS we could average in the mid 20K range or the season. You know 24-25,000 per game.

Even with a walk up crowd, how many will fit in The Bill? Not much more than 20,000 I guess.

RE: Is the FBS Door Open Again?
I think the FBS door is always open for Liberty if there is an opening. The Sun Belt currently has one spot until it reaches 12 football members while CUSA is likely going down to 13 and from there, who knows? I would rather be part of CUSA because they have more bowls, more schools around Liberty, better geographic footprint, and their fans seem more accepting of Liberty based on the little interaction on these boards. Old Dominion, Marshall, and Charlotte are all pretty close compared to App State. CUSA has a much larger presence in Texas and Florida, two of the largest alumni bases of Liberty outside of the Virginia area.

CUSA would also be my preference, and I agree if these boards are any valid barometer of people in the know, which is debatable, then more C USA folks seem agreeable than SBC. The tone of some of the SBC folks seems to shifted to accepting LU. As the SBC appears to be a stepping stone of FCS teams, let's take a MAC, SBC or CUSA invite, prove our worth, and then grow into the best fit. LU has more upside than any other FCS program and many low/mid major FCS. Tis true.

I wonder if that is because C-USA already has a history of including private schools, whereas the Sun Belt has not... that I know of.
