More LU fans
I know we already have access to the Flames Nation message board, but I like having a second outlet to talk Liberty athletics. What can we do to generate more interest on this message board? We need about 20 more posters on here. Is there ever a chance of getting out of the proving ground and ending up on the active board? What is the criteria?

RE: More LU fans
I likely will never go back to Flames Nation so I'm glad there are more posters here now. I started a thread a long time ago trying to increase the traffic over here but nothing happened. I nearly crapped myself when I saw activity on the board a week ago.

We were formerly in the inactive/graveyard section of the message boards so we are moving up. To be considered active I would imagine we have to continue our current progress and probably get the other schools in the Big South active. Or at the very least the general Big South boards.

I contacted the Board admin and asked him how we could get a LU board going. He replied that he would move us to Proving status from Inactive and to start using the existing board. I then sent PM to LU posters when I noticed them posting on other boards inviting them to start using this board. We just need to keep the activity going and develop more posters. The feature I really like about this board is that it is open to everyone from different leagues and teams.

An example, when LU played JMU a few weeks ago, I was posting on their board, and being chided a lot. They were mostly passionate fans pulling for their team. My last post was just before the game, on JMU's board, was "JMU fans, prepare your crow". That was a very popular thread and it was about 20 to 1 replies (JMU 20 posters to every 1 LU poster) mostly slamming LU. You know the drill. First time to playoffs, a perpetual Cinderella, no playoff wins, etc...

When the game was over, most JMU fans showed a lot of class and most complimented LU. They really enjoyed 'talking smack" and most were gracious and did "eat crow" when LU won and posted their well wishes. Now when JMU comes to Lynchburg Sept 26 next year, there will be a lot of very popular posts.

It's this type of interaction, and the information shared by posters from across the country, that I find very valuable. Great discussions on realignment, conference expansion, and good points on why some teams are high on the list for conference upgrade and others low. Sure one has to sift through the responses but there is a value there.

I hope the Admin is monitoring the activity here. I'll again contact him after the new year and touch base and find out our status. I encourage you to continue your postings as regulars and invite other LU posters to join us. If ODU and JMU can have popular and successful boards then we can too. Soon others, some who are now monitoring us now, from other boards, will chime in with their thoughts and opinions.

Let's keep it rolling and thanks to everyone whose participated to date.

RE: More LU fans
It seems like there were a lot of LU fans that were posting on the Sun Belt page when we were in a race to get the bid. I'd think they would naturally migrate to here but that hasn't happened.

When LU was part of the dance rehersal for the openings at the SBC, posting on their board was one of the few ways for LU fans to express their views. Lots of LU fans posted there amid many times hostile conditions. It was either there or Flames Nation. We have good momentum now so let's keep expanding and developing interest on this board and support the other forums.

At least most posting here now seem positive and realistic. Don't wish for some of those guys to come over here or it'll be ruined just like ff is.

One factor seems the teams we have played so far, since we started making the board active, have little or no board interest/presence. We can expect this to change when we play teams that have a strong BBS following. Also, as conference rumblings begin we can expect to be supported/challenged here as we were on the SBC boards recently. At least now we have a form now where we Flame fans can discuss without having to posts on others boards.

Don't sweat the traffic, guys. Hardly anybody know that this board exists. If we get play in expansion discussions with the Sun Belt, they will naturally migrate toward something they are more familiar in using.

FlameFans is not the enemy. You guys are all welcome anytime.

Sly, I believe that LU has generated enough buzz and there are enough LU fans, that this board will build with LU fans. I know efforts by others have been unsuccessful in maintaining this interest and they have paved the way for the LU board to now flourish and succeed. I read many of the post, and participated when LU was being mentioned as a SBC member on the SBC boards. To those 15-20 LU posters who also participated, we have created a core group that made mostly good points and represented our position well. Missing was a place where we could discuss among ourselves, without SBC members immediately dismissing our comments our thoughts and comments. In fairness, it was not our format to discuss our positions on their board, and several pointed that out. Here, everyone can monitor our positions. Simply continuing to use this board will attract new members and attract others who'll be interested to know what's going on with LU. FlamesFan plays a very important and valid part in supporting LU athletics and is a great resource.

Quite frankly I'll probably never go to Flame Fans again. I'm glad this board is getting more active with Liberty fans so I can discuss Liberty. I am excited about the growing support and fandom of the Liberty community.

Well see if you can't bring some of the good posters over here. We could use some more good posters.

Guys, lets give Flames Nation a pass. It does not serve us to make passing comments about not going there or trying to bring some of their posters here. Let's have the focus be developing this board with posters for LU, others interested in our news, and welcoming and discussing/bantering with other board members about our/their teams. Our attention is what we put our focus on. Let's focus here. When you read a post here by a Flames fan on another board, send them a PM and invite them here.

The way, more than any other that we are going to build the base here is with quality posts and replies. Sly is right and that is few know about this board. Let's change it by bring quality points, announcements, discussions, agreements/disagreements, FBS discussions and more to the mix. As Sly said, Flames Nation is not the enemy to this board, and the same with us to them.

I don't visit Flame Fans so I won't be sending anyone there a PM and I stopped reading Flames Nation once they partnered/associated themselves with Flame Fans. If any of their members wants to come and post here that is fine as long as they come with respect and add value to the discussions. We need more good posters here for some good discussions.

Welcome back to the forum. It seems to be a pretty nice discussion and activity going on. If you know others that'd like to join in the talk, invite'em on over.
