Wish he could recruit his teammate Jackson Carman to stay home. He starts from day one here. He and Vann could compete against each other in practice their entire college careers. I know it's not happening but that would be a nice addition to this recruiting class.
Honestly, that kid could probably compete for a starting job from day one wherever he goes.
Does anyone know if Carman is a two way player. Just curious, since he is an exceptional athlete on one side of the ball, does Fairfield use him both ways.

I hope he is locked in tight with this program, looks like Urbie is going after Fickell's prize recruit. More reason to hate that program up north!

I think the guys who are planning to early enroll (Vann, Whyle, and Bryant) are pretty much locked up. Other schools aren't going to offer them the same.

Looks like UC offered JUCO linebacker Chauncy Manac (6'3 240 lbs) out of Garden City Community College. He was a four star who signed LOI to play for Georgia back in 16 but then transferred to the JUCO ranks. Has offers to Ole Miss and Mississippi State.

Edit: Looks like he was a high school teammate of UC verbal Charles McClelland.

With his fluidity and ability to move across a line like he does in that highlight reel, there is little that makes me believe he'll be a LB here. He looks like prototypical college rush end to me...unless of course we're moving to a 3-down defense, in which case, he would easily set an edge as an OLB. Looks like he'd be a good one to add for sure.

Coach Phillips on CLF radio show just mentioned that he spent the off week at JUCO's in CA. Fickel then added that JUCO is not the primary route they want to take but need to do so to balance out some postion groups with some older guys.

That's just my opinion, FWIW. I agree those two positions are a hot mess when it comes to the Calvary ready to contribute next year.
The JUCOs will be a desperation patch. The key is finding those lower level JUCOs that are actually better than what we have returning.

RE: Football Class of 2018
I was helping a buddy of mine (a coach at Sylvania Northview) go through some tape last night, and much in the same vein as the QB from Anderson, there's a kid at Wadsworth that someone should take a gamble on.
Joey Baughman, a senior there and 6'1" 190 at the QB spot (also wrestler so you know he isn't a wimp). This year, he has just over 2,600 yards and I believe 30 TDs on 70% passing along with only two INTs all year on 280 attempts and just over 1,200 rushing yards and another 11 rushing TDs. He's got a lot of northern Ohio Mr. Football buzz if he takes them on a long playoff run and he honestly looks and plays a lot like Joe Burrow did over at Athens in his high school days. Extremely athletic and good vision while running the ball with a solid arm and good touch.
His mid/deep accuracy is good and really the only knock in his throwing is just the fact that he holds the ball a bit high in the motion, tucks his midsection on standing tosses, and tends to hop a bit too much on throws in motion, which might affect drive on the sideline throws that need to be made with a lower trajectory or accuracy when in rollout. At the moment I can't even find a recruiting profile and my buddy seemed to think he wasn't getting any D1 looks offer-wise, only offer is Saginaw Valley State...but he would at least be an interesting PWO.

He's apparently a UVA wrestling commit: http://www.maxpreps.com/news/ljsGddvoR0e...chlist.htm
Quote:* Joey Baughman, Wadsworth, QB
Senior and University of Virginia wrestling commit ran for 245 yards and five touchdowns and completed 22-of-33 passes for 274 yards and two touchdowns as the Grizzlies won the Suburban League National Division title outright with a 49-35 win over Hudson. Has thrown for 2,608 yards and 30 touchdowns and rushed for 1,160 yards and 17 touchdowns this season. Has thrown just two interceptions.

Anyone with any good intel on this young man? Looks like he is picking up a lot of late steam. He is visiting UC on the 25th. I can't imagine he would project as a RB in this class?
https://n.rivals.com/news/ohio-ath-kenny...set-visits
In regards to this kid...how good is Matt Campbell and Iowa State for that hire. I wish we would have parted ways with TT earlier and hired him if/when we had the the chance. Can you imagine how good we could have been by now? David Montgomery was a huge loss and every time I see them play and how good they are, Montgomery especially, it hurts!

Speaking at f the QB from Anderson (Volpenheim) he has 2 decently long rushing TDS and a passing TD already in the 1st 8 minutes a of the playoff game versus Troy.
So many of his passes are 3 step quick hits thatvibthink it hurts his stock. Kid has touch and can friggin run.

Bearcatman has me convinced that Candle is better than Campbell. LF and crew can recruit, but Candle is streets ahead as an X&O's offensive guy.

Joey Baughman ended up going 20 for 24 passes for 232 yards and five touchdowns and no picks while also running 14 times for 194 yards and a touchdown. Kids a stud.
How'd Anderson end up...and come to think of it, did you ever work with that kid in the youth ranks?
