That's actually more believable than it may sound. Since Lucy lives in Raleigh, she is anywhere from 75-90 minutes from Winston-Salem. If the Deacs have a noon start, you can easily get there in time to tailgate and can park within a few hundred yards of the stadium. When the Wolfpack has a 7 PM start, you have plenty of time to get to Carter-Finley by 5:30, and you are home in your own bed by midnight. It's only a long day if your teams lose.

I am sure that is just coincidence?
Pitt has some extra time too, with the Panthers playing a Thursday game prior to playing ND.
Oh well, just line up and play.
I don't think it's accurate to say that 3 ACC teams have a bye week before playing the Irish. While it's true that 4 teams are not playing the Saturday before the ND game, two of them (Pitt and Clemson) are playing a Thursday night game the previous week, so it's not like they have an extra week off. In fact, they might not even have an extra practice. Only Wake and BC actually have a full two weeks off before playing ND, and that probably won't help them much.

Typically it's been the other way around. We start out tailgating at Carter-Finley at 8 am for a noon start for the Wolfpack. On the road to W-S around 4-4:15. At our tailgate spot at BB&T Field by 6 pm for a 7 or 8 pm kickoff. Hotel in W-S overnight. Brunch with local friends on Sunday & drive home.
Did this in 2011: State/UNC at noon, Wake/ND at 8 pm
Did this in 2008: State/Miami at noon, Wake/Vandy at 6 pm. This was a long, wet, cold miserable day. Temps in the low 40s during State game, downpour & in the 30s for the Wake game. We made it through most of the 3rd quarter at Wake, but headed to our hotel when we could no longer feel our toes, despite wool socks & hiking boots (gametime was 34 degrees & raining). At least both teams won.

Wow. Unless those were really close friends in W-S, I don't believe I'd have done that in 2008. That's truly the definition of a "diehard fan".

RE: 2015 ACC Schedule is out!
The wife and I used to watch UNC play early in the day and then drive to Raleigh to watch State play night games.
Back in Mack Brown's first years, I loved watching the futility in Kenan. The best was a UNC loss to WF or was it Navy, in the rain. I think later that night we played Syracuse or TT.
There is nothing funnier than a mad, drunken, Super Ram who is also a respected medical doctor as long as UNC is not playing ball.

I'm not sure there is anywhere else in the country where fans are close enough to be able to do something like this with any two of four different teams. So, do we all still kind of suck at football in spite of this, or because of it?

The hubby & I do love sports, especially at our respective schools. Looking back on that day though, I think we were a little nuts ...or more likely we were still riding on the newlywed cloud (we'd only been married a month at the time of those games).

Not to be too nosy, but it appears you were on this site for 6 years before you married your hubby. Is this where you met? Because if it is, we could use that as a match.com type of testimonial to recruit new members.

Nope, he's never been a poster on these boards. He was a lurker/infrequent poster on PackPride. We met through a mutual friend who was an old college buddy of my husband and who I knew through posters from the old ACCBoards. So indirectly message boards did play a role in our meeting.

When I was in college several of us did it. Before TV dictated kickoff times Clemson always kicked off at 1300 (That's why the Paw leans the way it does BTW). Usually we would go up Friday night and party with friends, crash at their place and get up to tailgate the game.
After the Clemson game we would hustle down US76 to Newberry to catch the 1900 kickoff.
The only thing we had to worry about was having someone sober enough to drive. My sophomore year a guy who went to high school with one of my friends started hanging around with us and he didn't drink. Problem solved!
I keep saying that one of these years I am going to do a football tour of SC one season. Attend a game in every stadium in the state over the course of the year. I've already been to all of them except Coastal and Limestone already, but doing them all in one year would be cool.
