There are lots of adopted children and parents who have adopted who would disagree vehemently with you.

Technically they adopted someone else's daughter. The phrase "daughter" I believe is a biological reference to one's direct offspring.

Oddly enough, many people will use a hyphenated description of their racial makeup but not use a hyphen with adopted kids. I don't blame them, I just find it interesting, that's all.
