I'm old enough to have seen the Texas Western team with it's all-Black starting lineup upset Rupp's All White Ky squad! GREAT HISTORICAL ACHIEVEMENT! So, here is my dumb question, "Why did you change your name?" Seems like you had a darn good one already!

I think it was because we wanted to be part of the University of Texas system and a university instead of a college. .

Typical UK eliteism. It would've been an event and reminded younger people how far society has come. They refused to renew the football series with WKU. It looks good when an SEC school ducks playing you I guess.

I agree, but from UK's perspective, it would have shown a bright light on it's racist former coach. Pretty sure UK doesn't want that kind of publicity.

I agree that Rupp was not a racist. However, it's interesting to note that it was Vandy who integrated MBB in the SEC with Perry Wallace in '65 and not the UK Wildcats. Rupp was a product of his times. Nevertheless, Texas Western should still be Texas Western and UK should play them in honor of a MAJOR MOMENT in American History!
And Yes UK ought to play WKU, and Vandy should have continued the series with MT, but we all know why they don't THEY MIGHT GET BEAT!

I don't know if I'd want Kenturkey to play us next year. We won't be that good to beat them this time. It might even turn ugly.

That's what the Lexington faithful want to believe. I guess the karma of the situation was when WKU and their five black starters distroyed Rupp and his all white UK team 107-83 in the 1971 NCAA. It seems that Adolph was forced to recruit and sign his first black player that following year.
