the B1G doesnt need BC and BU to jointhe conference. If they want more eastern exposure, they can just schedule them as OOC. They could also continue the HE B1G challenge

4evah its time to chill with the UConn posts already. You're obsession with them despite not being a UConn fan continues to concern me regarding what you're trying to do here.

I would guess the big 10 would rather have Harvard/Yale hockey than Uconn, BC or BU.

I wonder who could be the 16th? The B12 might be willing to release WVU free of charge. That would really make the B1G the major conference for the Northeast.

Kansas I'm sure would be interested in the B1G but I'm not sure if the interest would be reciprocated. Virginia is probably happy in the ACC competitively. Vanderbilt might be open to a switch from the SEC. They could go in the B1G West where like Northwestern they'd have a chance to compete in FB.

WVU will never be in the B1G. Just a bad fit all around for the B1G

???

Unsure, but the rep has been spotted on campus and at games.

Are you "in the know".....

RE: Big Ten rep seen around UConn program gathering information
Assuming UConn is in, one of two things needs to happen concurrently. A school (thinking Purdue or Northwestern) must voluntarily leave the league... No way in heck thats happening. Or another school must come along to make it an even 16. There in lies the rub. At present there are no other viable Northeast candidates because all of the Flagship"ish" schools in large Northeastern states (UMass, Stony Brook, Buffalo) just aren't sexy. All of the other candidates From the Big 12 and ACC are locked into grant of rights contracts which at the moment seem untouchable. The SEC has no GOR but why would a school leave the SEC unless they wanted into the CIC?
So maybe someone can help me here... who is 16?

Vanderbilt would do. Great academics. But they'll likely wait for Kansas.

UConn would just take a hockey affiliation. Any association with the B1G would do wonder for UConn's morale.

I strongly doubt UConn would join the B1G as a hockey affiliate only. They are in a better hockey league as it is made up of almost exclusively regional rivalries. Unless there are discussions that indicate a full membership is down the road there is no benefit in joining the B1G for hockey only.

From the B1G's perspective: If the BTN is deeming UConn hockey profitable, why in the world would it not want to scoop up the school's other profitable content. None of this makes sense.

Lastly, there is also no secret board at the Boneyard and this rumor was started by "BE4neva" on the AAC board. So, its all hogwash anyway.

If they're waiting for Kansas as #16, then I'd imagine UConn wouldn't be in at #15. Names like Oklahoma and Texas are going to most certainly come up first...

UConn sure could use a boost by getting into the Big 10 or least the ACC. Recruiting in men's basketball and in football would improve by changing conferences. And UConn would bring many positives to these more dominant conferences.

I have to give you credit, at least you recognize that simply being UConn isn't enough to help your recruiting, being stuck in the American and all. I've said time and again that UConn's basketball's going to be hurting, and bad, because of their conference affiliation only to be hounded by UConn fans on here saying that conferences don't matter. Well, the only way they DON'T is if you're a stupid big name like UK. UConn's brand value has equity in basketball, but not enough to overcome a ho-hum conference schedule of UCF, USF, ECU, and Tulane. Put 'em in a P5 conference, with better opponents, and their name would carry more weight.

Crapping down your leg this year in basketball + Being stuck in the American = REALLY bad for UConn both now and down the road unless you guys get an invite QUICK.
