The SWAC is the premier HBCU conference. It has always been more relevant than the MEAC.
The SWAC is more prominent from a fan base standpoint and recognition but the MEAC has done better on the field over the past decade or so since the emergence of SC State and Hampton. The MEAC is better from top to bottom while the SWAC is usually very top heavy.
Actually, Bethune-Cookman has really helped the MEAC recently, winning black national titles in 2010 and 2013. It's been years since SCS or Hampton won it.
Not sure where you are getting your information but Bethune Cookman didn't win the Black College National Championship in 2010 & 2013. In 2010 Albany State won it, and in 2014 it was Tennessee State. Bethune Cookman has never won it, SC State has won three outright and shared another with their last being in 2009.

Makes me wish I had gone to college in Daytona Beach, Florida inside of out on the countryside (I didn't go to UH).

Hampton has for many years coveted CAA membership. Not sure if they still do now that the league isn't as Virginia-centric.

Yeah, when Steve Meerfeld (the coach that looked like he was gonna do a cartwheel after Hampton's major upset over Iowa State in the Dance 15 years ago) was there, he was pushing for it. I just don't see it though.

It's not out of the realm of possibility. I get the feeling that Hampton doesn't want to be defined down as a HBCU only, but rather a good school on its own merits. Joining the CAA, or even the Big South or SoCon, would burnish their bona fides in that category. But the alumni may want to remain yoked with Norfolk State, which is no threat to move to FBS or out of the MEAC, and in fact is in a fight for its accreditation. And there's alumni of both schools who'd just as soon go back to the CIAA (it's a better tournament, if nothing else).

The website that you posted doesn’t show split titles. BCU shared it with TSU back in 2013. It cause quite a bit of controversy due to the fact BCU beat Tennessee State head-to-head that year.

Hampton has felt shafted by the MEAC for a few years but it seems like Thomas the MEAC commissioner has done a great job of repairing that bound. I felt that a few years ago that Hampton was headed to the CAA.

Besides Tennessee State, already in the OVC, I don't think there's another HBCU that couldn't do better in a non-HBCU conference than Hampton.

Depends on what you consider better. TSU has looked to leave the OVC several times over the past 15 years or so but right now they have a pretty sweet deal in the OVC. In football they play one less conference game to accompany their HBCU foes. On the downside TSU's football attendance goes way down once they start conference play because students and alums aren’t excited about playing the teams from the OVC
