NCAA Units Earned For 2015
Six Units earned in the first two rounds - that's about $10 million earned in the first round payable over 6 years.

RE: NCAA Units Earned For 2015
The number I've been seeing is about $260,000 per unit.
You are showing around $833,333 per unit - where did you get that?

The unit pays out for 6 years, that is how he is coming up with higher numbers.

I don't totally understand how the whole thing works, but I know it sucks that Louisville had to leave the BE with a final four and Championship units instead of getting to keep credit for earning them. Guess it's worth it to get out, but dang the last 3 years were mighty costly with those and a Sweet 16 last year that went to the AAC.

RE: NCAA Units Earned For 2015
I read that they are worth 1.6 million each over the six years. So we've earned 19.2 million so far (12 units).

RE: NCAA Units Earned For 2015
This is how I'm doing it on my ACC Basketball Rx blog:

ACC Record: 6-0 (100%)
W: Notre Dame, UNC, NC State, Virginia, Louisville, Duke
L: n/a
Units by Round
2 OOOOOO
3 OOOOOO
Total: 12

B1G Record: 5-2 (71%)
W: Ohio St, Maryland, Michigan St, Wisconsin, Iowa
L: Purdue, Indiana
2 OOOOOOO
3 OOOOO
Units: 12

Big XII Record: 3-4 (43%)
W: Kansas, WVU, Oklahoma
L: Texas, Baylor, Iowa St, Oklahoma St
2 OOOOOOO
3 OOO
Units: 10

Pac-12 Record: 4-0 (100%)
W: UCLA, Arizona, Oregon, Utah
L: n/a
2 OOOO
3 OOOO
Units: 8

SEC Record: 3-3 (50%)
W: Ole Miss (1), Kentucky, Arkansas
L: Ole Miss (2), LSU, Georgia
1 O
2 OOOOO
3 OO
Units: 8

The only P5 conference with a team in the "First Four" is the SEC (Ole Miss), which lost in the round of 64.

I think this is accurate visual of the ACC earning NCAA Units:

Pretty decent article that puts it in laymens terms. Basically the unit value rises a little over time, then the rolling grand total per year is split among members.

It's 15 credits thus far. Add an additional credit for each win today.

9-0 but the the teams today have already earned credits in the round of 32, win or lose. And the three that made it to the sweet sixteen yesterday have already earned their sweet sixteen credits even though they haven't played yet. (Maybe not technically, but practically speaking this is true.)

So if it's something like $260k/unit/year that's $260k/school/year, or about $1.6m/school over the full 6 years.

If Louisville wins today, we'll have earned 1 elite eight credit too since NC State and Louisville would play in the sweet sixteen.

RE: NCAA Units Earned For 2015
Number of teams remaining is in front

5 ACC (18) $28.8 mil or $1.92 mil/team
1 Big East (11) $17.6 mil or $1.76 mil/team
2 Big Ten (14) $22.4 mil or $1.6 mil/team
2 Big 12 (12) $19.2 mil or $1.92 mil/team
1 SEC (9) $14.4 mil or $1.03 mil/team
3 Pac12 (11) $17.6 mil or $1.47 mil/team

Potential remaining units and maximum possible payout
7 $40.0 mil ACC
2 $20.8 mil Big East
4 $28.8 mil Big Ten
4 $25.6 mil Big12
2 $17.6 mil SEC
5 $25.6 mil Pac12

This counts a win for the ACC in the NC State vs Louisville match up.

I think it's worth mentioning that the best any conference could do at this point is match the ACC's current 18 credits (assuming the ACC collects no more).

How does the Big 10 payout come out to 1.92 mil per team currently?

The Big12 does because they have ten members. The Big Ten is at 1.6million.

Another observation I made (I like spreadsheets). The 17 conferences that went one and done will collectively take home less than the ACC at this point.

Thank you. I clearly can't read straight, my mistake!
