I know what the thread title is. I made my original comment about the horrible 2015 Syracuse uniforms that the OP posted. It was your Syracuse butt-buddy who brought up a uniform modeled by a player who last played for Clemson nine years ago and brought on the above post.

Maybe instead of highlighting the above post you need to highlight the post by your butt-buddy since he was the one who drove it off topic because I dared criticize something Syracuse on this board.

You know a uniform is bad when a fan of a school stuck with Russel Athletic is criticizing it. Seriously though, who ever designed this uniform should be deported to somewhere very far away - I'm thinking Iran.

Now, if the AD at Syracuse + Nike had done a modern take on this:



We'd all be in agreement.

As it is:

a) The model still looks like a knocked-off Spider-Man clone, and

b) Kaplony is correct in his assessment.

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I think Syracuse has done OK with uniforms despite changing constantly.

I think it'd be best for them to just go back to the picture that we see McNabb in, though.

Why would you do it if you already had classic, iconic uniforms? To follow this ridiculous modern day leisure suit trend? Stupid.

Has it helped their recruiting? Has it helped their merchandise sales? Had it accomplished anything other than diluting their brand?

They're ugly and its a terrible idea. However, we're all fans, so we can't change it.

You are also consumers – the most loyal consumers of that particular brand. If you don't buy that garbage, they will stop producing it.

Seriously, whoever you hire is your next A.D., during that first meet and greet, you need to stand up en masse and demand that you return to your traditional identity.

Schools with actual tradition like ours need to stand up to the Nike's of the world and tell them to balls off. The extra few dollars you get from them for sacrificing your tradition is not nearly worth it.

Miami's Adidas contract doesn't start until this summer? They were wearing Nike during spring football. Makes sense. Just kind of odd.

I haven't bought a Syracuse jersey in years. I don't think my boycott is going to be effective.

Other than the Bowden era Clemson's uniforms are for the most part unchanged since the late 1970's. Our helmet is essentially unchanged since the early 1970's. When people turn the channel and Clemson is playing people see the orange helmet and with the white paw and the uniform and say "Ah, that's Clemson." They turn the channel to a Syracuse game they have to look at the scroll to see who is playing.

Syracuse used to have a solid brand with the blue and white tops and orange pants with the plain orange helmet. You turned the channel and you knew who was playing. Now, not so much.

And before the inevitable "Recruits like it" posts....Look at the teams near the top of the recruiting rankings. By my count 21 of 25 teams in the 2015 Top 25 on 24/7 were schools that wore traditional style uniforms, and that's even giving you Mixxou and UCLA for the non-traditionals. And to be quite honest if a recruit is using uniforms against you in recruiting you have bigger issues to address.

Me too. I looked for the star of Bethlehem in the sky when I first came to that realization but by golly he is actually correct on this issue. You are Syracuse University and you had an iconic, unique look. To just surrender that willy-nilly to follow some ridiculous trend was a terrible mistake you should immediately rectify.

The first thing you need to do a strip that S off your helmet. And go back to normal looking numerals. Blue jerseys, white numerals, orange pants. Why would you ever screw with that?

Personally, I don't have a problem with a blue "S" on an orange helmet... just don't go crazy!

IMO the standard Syracuse home uniform should be blue jersey and orange pants.
If you want/need an alternate uniform, how about orange jersey and blue pants?
Keep it simple.

This is all opinion here...listening to some of you...we should be playing in knickers and leather heathers.
