I would not be surprised if Capel turns it down. Odds are better jobs for next year and even an ACC job may be open next year. Capel would be wise to take George Mason, UNC-Charlotte or Penn instead of ASU. I still am surprised Charlotte wants Price, I am surprised Charlotte did not try to jump on Centrals' s coach.

You honestly think those three are better jobs than Arizona State? Have you ever been out here? Ever? UNC-Charlotte is a better opportunity than ASU? Crazy talk.

I don't know why ASU would want to hire him.

He knows the recruiting areas and such. It isn't like ASU is Arizona.

As for stepping stone schools for coaching Basketball, these schools are better choices than ASU. ASU is not a final destination for most basketball coaches.

It would be if they used their resources right. There's no reason they shouldn't be competing with Arizona, UCLA, Stanford, Utah and Oregon for Pac-12 titles yearly.

The whole "east coast guy" or "west coast guy" is way overblown.

I can remember back on the old CNNSI boards Pitt fans upset in 2000 that Ben Howland was hired, since he had no ties to the east coast. I predicted Howland would have them a conference title in three years, which he did, as well as two straight sweet sixteens.

He couldn't get it done at Oklahoma.

Charlotte hired Mark Price.

It also depends if he is seen as a possible replacement for Krzyzewski, who is 68.

I'd imagine that Brad Stephens and one other that slips my mind at the time is the leading replacement candidate.

Maybe he'll turn them down and they'll take Josh Pastner...
