Track & Field at Texas Relays
Last week, senior Duncan Dickerson broke the school record in the hammer throw with a mark of 61.24 meters (200' 11"). Today, he was 8th at the Texas Relays with 60.35 (198' 0").

Tonight at 9:00, Katie Jensen will be running the 5,000 meters. She redshirted the indoor season, so it'll be her first race since November.

Also last week, Evan Karakolis broke his own school record in the javelin throw with a toss of 72.76 meters (238' 8"), a mark which places him 5th in the NCAA this year. He was named C-USA male Track & Field athlete of the week.

At the TSU Relays last week, Daisy Ding set a lifetime best in winning the high jump with a mark of 1.77 meters (5' 9¾"), placing her 12th in the NCAA. She was named C-USA female Track & Field athlete of the week.

It was a great pole vault competition, as 3 vaulters went over 19 feet. Jason was not one of them, as he was able to clear "just" 5.45 meters (17' 10½"). It's taking a while to get the rust off, but one of these meets, he's going to go very high.

Usually it's because someone is redshirting the indoor or outdoor season. She might be a little hurt (doubtful if she's competing this early in the outdoor campaign), or more likely, she's wanting to return next year as a fifth year senior and she can probably go full steam after a spot on the USA Olympic team (she'd have to be throwing in the 60-foot range though to have a chance).
