I don't get NIU fans who think the AAC is good for them? or that the AAC would want their lousy basketball. It's like a segment of the fan base think the only thing holding NIU back at all is there conference membership.

You are *SOOOOOO* far from the AAC that membership would only hurt your attendance and as a conference they are not that much better than the MAC. How many Alumni do you have in the AAC footprint vs the MAC?
Have you seen the MAC or their team line ups? Nobody gets excited to watch EMU or CMU in Dekalb man...

What we should do is look at the last time you hosted a P5 school..

Wait.. Kanasa.. ATTENDANCE: 18,374

How about a nice season opener vs a good name

2011 vs Army ATTENDANCE: 17,003 (this was also the beginning of the Dorian era)

Your problem is not the MAC, stop blaming the MAC! If you cant bring 22K fans when your team is owning the conference why in the world would playing "Temple" bring the fans? You're doing something wrong.

Maybe the AAC wants that Chicago Market and thinks that NIU can deliver it. But there is no reason to think all of hte sudden playing "uconn" "ecu" or "temple" is going to get out out of the high teens in attendance.
Couldn't hurt. And it's not like the AAC couldn't use some better football.

Actually playing schools on the east coast, away from the base of your alumni, and far from opponents *COULD* hurt.

And I don't know if you missed it but the AAC had a team kick the teeth out of Baylor in a BCS bowl. The AAC Add, if any, will be more holistic than *omg there football is really good right now*.

Thats why Maryland ended up in the B10 and not Boise....
