Despite growing up in Ohio my little brother has become a Michigan State fan, so I am pretty good at smack talking with spartan fans and I'm looking forward to it 03-wink Anyway, how do you guys think your young football team will do this year? I know it will be tough to replace Smoker, he was an incredible QB. Has Stanton recovered form his injury in the Nebraska games and how did things look in the spring game?

I feel we will do a lot better than most everyone is predicting us to do(i.e. around .500). From what I've heard stanton is looking much healthier and in my opinion will be the starter, although he did not take any reps in the spring game. From what I saw in the spring game our defense should be solid if they stay healthy, and special teams should be among to best in the conference with Raynor and Fields running the kicking game and cobb as a legit threat to break a return everytime he touches the ball. The end result of our season will greatly depend on how the offense preforms. Our receivers will be the bright spot with every key contributer returning, but the rest of the offense is fairly young all around.

Good point jrizzo,
Stanton is looking good.Did not take many reps in spring ball because he is not fully recovered,Will be the starter in my opinon.Defense looks solid as jrizzo said.John L. said in a Spartan Sports zone the other week that the defense will have to win us the first couple games, then as jrizzo pointed out again that the offense will mature and win ball games. In my book, they will need to be fully matured before the scUM game and be ready for the very tough schedule that follows.Special teams will be a big threat, returing kicks with Cobb and Raynor will be raining field goals all season long.He nailed a 62 yarder in spring ball.
