If UAB is expelled
What percent chance would you give to CUSA inviting no one and staying at 13?

I think it's 80/20 that we stand pat if UAB fails to reinstate FB.

You guys are answering what YOUR preference is.
The OP asked what actual chance there is.
You have not been in Conference USA long enough if you think there's any chance that C-USA won't add a 14th team after kicking UAB out.

14 seems to be a number the conference presidents want to be at...90% we add a 14th very quickly.
TXST and USA are both solid options.

Does Banowsky get paid based on the number of teams? If he does we'll go to 20.

Very little chance. I've heard the argument about each school getting more money with one less member, but there are candidates that bring more value than the little bit of extra money is worth. For scheduling purposes going to 14 makes practical sense. If UAB is expelled, welcome to CUSA ULL.

The odds appear to be high that C-USA will stand pat for the time being. When ODU AD Wood Selig was asked about this at an ODU Coach's Caravan meeting, he replied that there is not a lot of interest in looking for a replacement at this time. He was pretty clear that the conference was in no hurry to bring in a replacement team if UAB fails to reinstate football.

A couple things to keep in mind...The SBC just increased their exit fee to 2.5mil on less than 15months notice, 2mil otherwise...and I'm pretty sure Tx State hasn't commited to paying FCOA as CUSA has. I don't know about USA.

I'd expect a CUSA AD to say that right now, just out of respect for UAB.

That's not what I heard about the situation.

This is mainly because it is likely UAB will stay in the conference for another year before we are officially out. Therefore, C-USA has an entire year to find a 14th member.

Haven't this been discussed in 30 different threads? Why start a new one?

We've had one of these threads every week since Watts' original announcement. Why stop now?

That's like JMU admin saying they don't have a IA conference invite. My guess is 2015 we will go again with 13 schools. The question for 2016 though will CUSA have 14 or 16 schools.
I hope UAB reverses its course and reinstates football, but to me that's very unlikely. My guess is the powers to be at UAT want to get UAB in a basketball only conference such as the Summit, MVC, ASun. Then in 3-5 years tell UAB they can have football again but you have to play IAA in say the Southland as a football only against McNeese State, Central Arkansas and Sam Houston or the OVC with EKU, Murray State and Jacksonville State.
Back to 14 or 16, if UAB is gone and CUSA says its 14 the one will most likely come from So Alabama, Arkansas State or ULL. If CUSA decides to go 16 I hope its a MAC school (Ohio, Toledo, Akron), and 2 SB schools again 2 of So Alabama, Arkansas State or ULL. Or CUSA could go for the death blow and take all 3 of So Alabama, Arkansas State or ULL, if this was done it would send the Sun Belt back to 2001.

I'd go 100% CUSA adds a school. BUT, who and how fast will be kept tight to the vest. There just aren't a lot of sexy options for CUSA to pull from. I bet the looming TV deal for the conference will make the decision process easier as candidates might know what kind of revenue stream they are in for and if it will be a good deal for them here in CUSA versus where they are at.
