RE: OT - Name changes of campus buildings
All I know is that I was about to get a whopping if it was used by my parents in just the right tone.

Actually, as long as one is consistent in their method of recognition, there should be no issue. If stooping to finding critisism due to their name, it says more about the person delivering the message than the one in which it's directed.

Most times these were used by the person themselves. (In many cases it was necessary since there tended to be multiple people with the same first/last name combination when you include the large amount of cousins.) George HW Bush and George W Bush (and the up-and-coming George P Bush) are also prime examples of this.

Promoting Obama's middle name of Hussein was NOT done by the candidate during his 2008 run. It was done with the very clear message by his opponents (both supporters of Hillary and Republicans) that Obama must be a Muslim who was only pretending to be a Christian. (And they were doing that with the intention of equating all Muslims as terrorists.)

Because someone used his 3 initials they are calling him a muslim?01-wingedeagle So if I drop the middle initial and just wrote 'BO' you'd probably accuse me of saying he stinks..

RIGHT ON BROTHER!!! Who can forget the "Lil Abner" comic strip character named "BO Plenty"???

Or perhaps you could just not read it. Some of us find it a nice diversion from the 14,000th iteration of "we are too scared to move to FBS" at a time of the year when there is nothing new under the sun WRT Dukes football.

Or perhaps you could have the discussion in a more appropriate forum, maybe foxnews.com/msnbc.com comments section, or maybe reddit.com/r/politics or somewhere that is not a sports forum.

The only result of continued back & forth like is posted above will be anger, frustration and butthurt. No one's views are going to be changed, in fact the more it goes back and forth the more intractable each side becomes. So what purpose does this serve?

I have actually learned some things.

RE: OT - Name changes of campus buildings
Been thinking of some time of moving this thread to the Off Topic board at the top of the main board. This would be a good place for this topic now.

Boooooo washed up jock jokes. I can probably toot a trombone while throwing a football further & more accurately than you. Get better insults!

Are we getting closer to re-naming the buildings?
