RabidTU2's Annual Empty Report For The 2014 FB Season
This is my annual football "empty seat" study. I have done this for a few years now and always think it gives us some idea of where we stand as far as attendance is concerned compared to the BCS schools. I only list the BCS schools that have more empties than we do.

The Basics:

Chapman Stadium = 30,000 cap
2014 Avg Attendance (according to Phil Steeles CFB Mag) = 19,647
The difference between stadium cap and avg attendance = 10,353

BCS Schools exceeding 10,353 empties-

Indiana Hoosiers - 11,272
Illinois Fighting Illini - 19,121
Purdue Boilermakers - 21,967
USC Trojans - 20,335
UCLA Bruins - 14,486
ASU Sun Devils - 10,525
Colorado Buffs - 12,697
Cal Golden Bears - 14,792
Kansas Jayhawks - 15,994
Miami Hurricanes -22,398
Pitt Panthers - 24,185
Virginia Cavaliers - 22,180

So that is 12 P5 (BCS) schools that average more empties than us even though they obviously have better built in schedules, probably more students/alumni and certainly more national hype and a friendly press. Oh and one more thing, they have a pathway to possibly winning a spot in the "final four" if they're good enough.
