Student Move In Day...
kind of off topic but, this happened yesterday..........

https://twitter.com/iceicebaby77/status/...3289657344
EDIT: above was deleted, let's try FB https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=...233&type=1

Looks to me like the townhouses on 43rd street, which are supposed to be sold to university and/or City of Norfolk employees.

This is about to get big and ugly. (Gawker and the Pilot starting to ask questions, etc.)

They are sold to anyone plus they are most all rented out to ODU students. Totally uncalled for ! Totally classless !

It's that special time of year. Lust is in the air. Either laugh or ignore it. Football season is around the corner.

I got the property restrictions from this. no idea if still enforced. Should have kept those lots for parking, but that's a different thread.

No, you are wrong. I have a feeling the fallout from this will be much worse than the I'm smhacked videos (or what ever that was actually called)

Why? Nothing illegal is in this picture.

All about they image the University wants to project. I'm smacked, the thug group they had for Homecoming last year, etc. Until the BOV puts down their fists and directs the University to change admissions standards, dramatically increases police visibility, and changes the media / publicity campaign for the University, we will have more of the same.

This being university property (owned by the Old Dominion University Community Development Corporation) it is, at the very least, a Title IX problem.

However, if you can't see any issues with this I value my time more than trying to reason with you.

I don't believe that comment was referring to that there was nothing wrong with the photo. It was just stating that technically this isn't illegal. Is it classless? Does it send a poor message to parents of first-years? Yes.

The fact you needed to explain that to him means you should have valued your time more than trying to reason with him.

College students do stupid things using awful judgment, and unfortunately the press just might take this one and run with it. Nothing illegal, but in very bad taste and not the sort of thing we want circulating on TV and le interwebs. Perception is everything and this garbage does us no favors.

My understanding is that it was up for 20 minutes (or so) before campus police made them take it down.

If you read the eligibility to purchase, it says the "preferred buyers". You do not have to be a government employee to purchase the homes.

Here is a picture of what this thread is about:

I think it's a tasteless action and does no favors for the perception of ODU and its student body.

RE: Student Move In Day...
I am older and wiser now,BUT, I did chuckle when I first saw the picture and read it. It is not politically correct but it screams of college kids having a good laugh. I fully expect to get negative feedback from this post,so be it. I can say I think the mom's who read the signs and smiled to themselves probably are very cool moms. Not promoting just saying I found it amusing!!!!!!
