I lived in that area for a couple years... it's typically a pretty safe area. Tragic. Just goes to show that there are crazy people everywhere, and to keep your guard up.

I grew up in Roanoke. That area is very insulated from this type of horror. Very sad !

The video is chilling. Literally she was running and screaming for her life. They were not engaged to each other but left loved ones behind
I wish they would release the screen shot of the shooter. That's a very easy area to disappear into.

The ATF has joined the manhunt and Jeffrey A. Marks, president and general manager of WDBJ, says officers believe they know the man’s name and license plate number.

Update 10:10 a.m.

Virginia governor Terry McAuliffe tells WTOP the shooter may have been a “disgruntled” former employee at the station.

I just heard they were in pursuit of the murderer. I also heard he may be a disgruntled employee of that news station. When they catch this guy, they should go ahead and execute him if he does not do it himself, which is likely.

Has ANYONE every solved ANY CRIME by taking a gun with them outside of their home or their business?

Just curious, because I'm not seeing all (or even one) the reports of 'tragedy averted' because Joe Whiteman took out his gun that he CCLs or Open Carries and saves the day.
