Dana Holgorsen: Time for FBS programs to stop playing FCS teams
http://espn.go.com/college-football/stor...s-programs

"West Virginia plays Liberty on Saturday, and the Mountaineers have Youngstown State on the schedule next in 2016. After that, however, there are no future games planned against FCS opponents."

I can see lower tier FBS (sun belt, c-usa, MAC) scheduling FCS schools and they should do so but P5 schools should not be scheduling FCS opponents, it just isnt fair to all the lower tier fbs schools that could be scheduled instead. Bowl games should require 6 wins over FBS schools.

BTW: I do support Liberty going FBS independent or joining CUSA(with JMU at the same time)

Another reason LU needs to be FBS.

The day that P5s collectively shutdown FCS matchups and fill their schedules with G5s it will have a devastating impact on many of the FCS programs that only stay afloat based on on guarantee games. And I am looking at most all of our Big South brothers.

sly, lower tier fbs teams still pay 400-500k to host an fcs team.

I agree. FBS teams should want to play FBS teams only. However, it's still a mostly free country. Schedule whoever you want.

WVU wants to end playing FCS, the Big Ten is on their way to ending games against FCS. The G5 schools and the P5 schools desperate to be bowl eligible will still schedule FCS schools as long as it is allowed. The key is to bring a lot of fans to the games and spend a lot of money so that they invite you back.

If I were scheduling for an FBS Liberty football program, I'd avoid FCS so that I could load up more on more widely known programs which are typically FBS.

That's a wise move for LU to play as many FBS games as possible, especially with as much changing landscape in the FCS/FBS ranks.

G5s won't need to pay high guarantees if the P5s are paying them instead of FCS schools. The value of G5 OOC dates will increase significantly. They won't need as many FCS matchups.
