RE: LU (14) 31 Montana (7) 21 Final Record Attendance 22k
Changed my schedule, helped inlaws pack, drove 3 hours to Lynchburg, and was rewarded in an outstanding game at LU. Best game I've attended since LUs inception with big game atmosphere, student involvement and quality game and opponent.

Watched 1st half from home side and 2nd from student section. Good vantage pointso from both areas. Student rocked all night and stayed to end. LU shoots tshirts into crowd at several intervals during 4th quarter to keep kids there. It worked.

Great defensive game plan by Wimbley stifling the potent Griz attack.

22,551 and it was packed. We can anticipate and even bigger crowd when Coastal comes if the game has high implications.

I agree. Match up both sides in size and look and turn the visitors field house (on top of it) and grassy hills beside it into seats. This would give it more of a bowl look and really make it look big time.

Yeah but with luxury suites on the visitors side.

LU has stated within the last year or so, that when they expand the Bill they'll have a press box/luxury suite tower on the student side to mirror the Baptist side.

RE: LU (14) 31 Montana (7) 21 Final Record Attendance 22k
Saturday at the game, I walked behind the visitor locker room. Views from the horseshoe were obstructed by the building due to it's height. An expansion of that would could providing seating on the building's sides and behind and atop the visitors complex. One would hope with attendance breaking seating capacity by 3,000+, that if this becomes a regular occurrence consideration would be to expand, with or without FBS membership. Past talks have mentioned expansion when FBS comes. Wisdom would seem to be to expand as needed rather than conditional with FBS.

That is an old artist's rendition of stadium expansion from about 5 years ago. The current plan has a much bigger tower than the one on the Baptist side being built on the student side in the next expansion. We will bowl in the north endzone until later stages.

that would be a nice addition to go along with the new video board next year. I asked myself with that many students coming in yearly and that number surely to increase next year would they or do they still feel need to increase size

The expansion will begin almost immediately when we get the FBS invitation. The blueprints and budget are ready to go. The Student side tower will be more impressive than the Baptist side based on images I've seen.

Yep, all I have heard is the tower and second level on the student side. However, I'd love to see it turned into a horseshoe somehow at the visiting locker room.

Just got a reply back from the SIU beat writer saying they are expecting 10k or maybe more with their big weekend coming up. Hope we are catching them at the right time. Another big road win if it comes together.

I just keep getting this Indiana St. feeling. I have to keep reminding myself that we are a different team.

Agree with you both. An 0-3 team will be hyped to play a top 10 team. This is a role reversal for Liberty. Can Gill and Wimbley get this across to the Flames? Let's hope so. If they are hungry they should win. If they are full of themselves and don't pay their best they may lose.

RE: LU (14) 31 Montana (7) 21 Final Record Attendance 22k
Here's the last thing I saw on stadium expansion. " When asked about what to expect from the second phase of expansion, one source was quoted as saying “If you’ve seen Florida State’s stadium, you will get an idea of what (Liberty) is going for here. The outside of the stadium (facing University Blvd) will look like an academic building.”  While conjuring up images of Doak Campbell Stadium with “lots of columns”, our source also gave us some insight into how the new building will be laid out.  “The first floor will be concessions, second floor will be offices…the third level will be the upper deck.” The new expansion will house athletic offices, tutoring rooms, and more, and should be roughly the height of the suite level on the home side of the stadium.  Much like Phase 1, expect this addition to feature quite a bit of glass, and a Jeffersonian look to compliment the decor of recent campus expansions. "
