GaSt starts smack with Liberty
The Georgia State optimistic faithful have begun flinging their jabs at Liberty on the SBC board. Granted the SIU game was a downer and surprised many LU fans who were expecting a victory, including N&A beat writer DS who picked LU by 7.

The GaSt game will tell us a lot about the 2015 LU team. They responded well after the WVU loss. Can they do the same with GaSt? If the LU team that played Montana plays GaSt, we will win, and conversely we'll lose an embarrassing loss, yes embarrassing loss if GaSt wins. This is a bigger game for LU than against SIU.

I have to believe the SIU loss will provide extra motivation for LU to win. LU is a much better team that played at SIU. Obviously the crowd will not be a factor in the Georgia Dome. I was just prodded, by a Coastal fan, to predict the score. I'm going 28-24 LU. Anyone else want to jump in?

I cannot understand the attitudes of some Sun Belt fans. Good grief, they belong to the worse conference in the FBS and they act like P5 fans. At least, P5 fans have good reasons for their arrogance.

HOOD, you have been a voice of reason on the SBC board. I've tried in my replies there not to take the bait of the sophomoric replies expressed by a few. It's interesting that over half the replies about the LU/GaSt game are discussing GaSt with a critical eye, meaning they are holding GaSt accountable as being a weak, non-winning program. Mix in the boastful predictions of a few, and it's a recipe for spirited discussions. Speaking of facts, GaSt does not have a leg to stand on as their program has consistently been in the dumpster.

Thank you.

Frankly, I don't mind most jokes about Army's football program. As I have said, these forums have plenty of Army downgrading. I could go after every single jab like a certain GaSt poster, but I chose not to. We stink, right now. But I will not take new programs somehow insisting that they are on Army's level when it comes to pedigree and prestige. Army is simply elite compared to the Sun Belt.

As for some of the Sun Belt's degrading of Liberty, it is absurd. Liberty would be a great asset to any college. It is a classic hierarchy situation. The Sun Belt may be the bottom rung of the FBS ladder, but they still have power and ducats to hand out to hopeful FCS programs. That little sense of power has gone to their heads. It is there really a mega difference between the Belt and the top FCS? Heck, no.

RE: GaSt starts smack with Liberty
I think it is wise that if we want to be respected, we need to show respect. We can't control how our team performs on the field/court/whatever but we can control what we say. I find trash talk to be stupid because someone's mouth will write a check that his/her butt can't cash.

If people enjoy getting their jollies off by running their mouths about how well their team is going to perform, nobody can stop them (short of earning a ban) but I implore everyone to represent Liberty in a professional way so as to turn people's opinions around from the "Oh crap, Liberty people have infested our board again," to "If Liberty were in our conference, at least their fans are cool."

Whether justified or not, Liberty fans have a reputation around the boards that is very negative. I'd hope to change that over time.

RE: GaSt starts smack with Liberty
DS of N&A in his blog stated that he could have played last week but was kept out as a precaution, and is expected to play against GaSt.
