Exclamation Visiting Norfolk - what to do?
For Charlotte fans coming in to watch the game can we get some advice on good things to do in Norfolk?

We're already planning to visit the Wisconsin/Nauticus and if time allows we might visit MacArthur's Tomb. Any other suggestions?

The aquarium at the oceanfront is nice. If you like art, the Chrysler Museum is very good. If you like music, check the schedule for the NORVA, its one of the best music venues of its size. The Wisconsin is cool, but only do Nauticus if you have kids from about 8 to 13. If you have younger kids, the Childrens Museum in Olde Town Portsmouth is very nice. You might check out Spirit Cruises if you want to see the skyline, ODU and the Naval Base from the water with dinner and music. The NARO movie theatre shows independent movies and has some nice restaurants within walking distance. Its also only a couple miles from campus. Lastly, if you like beer I would visit Smartmouth brewery, OConners brewery which both have nice tasting rooms (no tours) or Birch which has one of the best beer selections in the city. Birch is pricey though.

Do they offer tours of the Naval Base or Newport News Shipbuilding? I studied Mechanical Engineering so that stuff is interesting to me.

If you like engineering you may wish to drive across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. There is sightseeing, a pier and a restaurant on the south island, and a visitors center on the north side. Not sure if you would have to pay for both directions if you went to the visitors center and came straight back or not. Its pretty interesting.

I work at newport news shipbuilding. The only tours they give from what I have heard are for interns and new hires.

They have u-turn lanes on the each end of the bridge just before each toll plaza. You can also make a U-turn at the scenic overlook on the north end that looks over the bay or the pier on the southernmost island.

You'll have the Wine Festival going on at Town Point Park downtown on Saturday & Sunday.

About seating in your visitor section, are there backs to the seats or do we need to bring our stadium seats?

No backs on seats. In our charming historic stadium not even priority donors get seat backs. Only the top donors who can donate lots of money to get club or suites get comfortable seating! Also, be prepared to use port-a-potties if the bathroom lines are long! We love our old Foreman Field but her days are numbered!

I strongly advise bringing a seat cushion of some type. Those bleachers are hard and uncomfortable.
