I have an offer to go for lunch on Thursday now. I might hit it again. I think I have to.

RE: D-Hub
Very nice looking rendering of D-hub. Hate to see D-hall go but architecturally it fits in well. The hotel/conference center looks like a nice design also. We're very good when it comes to buildings, I'll give JMU that. I was never crazy about the East side of campus as I think the design paradigm over there lacks some creativity but at least the facilities are very nice on the interior.

I took my son for my last visit to D-Hall the day of the spring game. Things had changed considerably in 28 years, except for the basement bathroom. It was just as I remembered.

I think Deez posted some, but I couldn't find the link. Found this tiny picture though.

Yes, demolition has started.

Here is an architect's image of the new dining center as it might look at night.

I haven't seen it this last week. There's a lot of inside stuff that needs to happen first before visible demolition begins to happen.

Thank you sir!!

Don't imagine it will take too long to level the building once they start knocking
holes in it!!

visible exterior demolition started today. Interior is gutted; you can pretty much see straight through the place.

RE: D-Hub
I'll never forget sneaking in to D-Hall late one night with a few of my friends.

A friend of mine from high school was visiting because he was trying to decide between JMU and Pitt. Me and few dorm mates went for a late night run to the Dog Pound for some late night hot dogs, and walked around campus. Once we got to Gibbons, we decided to climb the magnolia tree that grew along one of the side entrances. When we got to the top of the building we walked around and saw a hatch that led straight down to the heart of D-Hall via ladder, and we were able to walk around the prep stations, see the giant mixing bowls (I swear there was one that could have doubled as a hot tub), and get the employees' lay of the land. The most amazing part of the night was the fact that we are stone cold sober. Needless to say, my friend chose JMU.

It did require a bit of a leap from branch to roof. Thankfully I was in better shape then than I am now.
